So people keep coming I want a book. I priced it down to 71% and they still told me off for it being to expensive. Whats the deal we supposed to go and have losses on our products ?

I take it this was during a time when there's a dip in value in books? Then yes, you lose money or lose your combo.

Every character has a budget limit (see here for details). If you offer them something more expensive than that, they simply can't pay. the budget increases with customer rep. If you see a little heart appear during a transaction, rep will have increased for that customer. The first heart increases the budget 10x, after that it's something like 10%.

For example, the girl starts with a budget of 600, so you can't sell her a book that costs, say, 2600. However, at rep lvl 2 the budget will be around 6000, and she will accept it.

It was the little girl, wasn't it? lol
The little girl, and the one husband guy seriously anger me.
They sometimes expect you to sell something at 40%.
I've just decided to not sell to them, and now I'm doing just fine. xD

Did you even *read* cearn's post or do you just want to remain ignorant?

You need to sell them cheap items at their pin ranges to increase their reputation with you, which increases the money they have available to spend.

Having worked in a book store before I can tell you that this is how it works in real life too. Just offer them a price you know you will make a profit on and if they refuse too bad for them.

That will lead to failure in this game if you do not increase your customer rep. Is noone reading the above post?

I belive, correct me if im wrong, that the percentage value is based on the item's full value. keep in mind that if this is true you probebly got this item for less then 100% of its value so if you got it for 50% of its total value and sell it for 65% you are turning a profit my friend! Capitalisum Ho!
