I lost my save file... :(
My laptop had a virus so I unintalled and deleted everyone except for windows 7, because nothing else worked. However, when I reinstalled Recettear, my save file was gone. However, I spent 57 hours on the game, and I was about to beat the Lapis Ruins(I was at Floor 95). My record of hours is still there on my profile picture, so is there a chance?

Is there a way to get it back or is it lost forever?

I don't think so. The number of hours spent on the game are saved on the Steam server, but the local save games are stored on your pc, so... I'm sorry.

(I might be wrong, tho)

Well thanks anyway.

At least a response is better than nothing.

Oh man...sorry to hear that =(....

As the prior poster said I also don't think there is a way to recover your actual save file, but if you aren't opposed to the idea you could do something along the lines of getting a save file editor for Recettear so that you could get yourself closer to where you were in your last save on a new one. Not a fan of editors and the like myself, but I'd say a situation like this warrants an exception even if you're against that sorta thing.

A save file editor? I've never heard of that.

Is that a hacking device? And is it legal?

No, nothing of that nature, and it is perfectly legal. Basically it's just a program, specifically for Recettear, which lets you change things such as adding items to your inventory and the like.

I might try it and see if it works. Thank for the suggestion! :)

If you know a good emulator, send a link.

Pretty sure I technically shouldn't post this according to forum guidelines, but frack it anyway, not like it hurts anyone since this is a strictly singleplayer game. (Might hurt you though if you abuse it and kill your enjoyment of Recettear, so please don't do that. ^_^)

Thanks.

And no worries about me abusing it. I just want to go back to where I was and continue from there. Whats the point of playing the game if you hack all of the items in it?

My thoughts exactly ^_^
Just wondering, where is this savegame stored? I searched my steam folder and couldn't find it.

Right click on Recettear in your library, select properties -> local files -> browse local files. It'll take you right to the folder. The saved game consists of the save.dat and _save.dat files. If you want to back up your save, you should copy both of those files.

Whoops! I knew I forgot to do something before formatting my old HD. Looks like I'm in the same boat again and have to start the game ALL over again.

Oh well, half of the fun was just getting to where I was, so I'm not THAT upset.
