Yea, I'd wait for the update if graphics is your thing. They (the developers) said that apart from the new dlc, graphics was there next thing so read the article about the update, it metions the things that are gonna be changed.

Since you said you can see it going up to 1280x720 you must be selected in 4;3 or 16:10 but both have higher rez than x720 anyway ;S

You don't need to buy the dlc for the graphics, the graphics ship free.
