yeah, IDK why they would even care about updating HL/CS 1.6 I love both the way they are and should be untouched. I find the whole point of sitting down with an old classic is not worrying about graphics and just having a great time.

HL and CS were updated to support Linux. Messed it up for us Windows users.
All mods are broken.
If you check out Cry of Fear's page on Moddb, the devs themselves posted that all mods are broken. They asked us to stay away from the update if possible(don't know how).

Not all mods are broken. Anyways you should try moving the mod to the new location of the half-life folder which is the Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life folder.

Well the game itself is messed up.. don't wanna know how the working mods run.
