This game surpassed my expecations. There is a surprisingly large amount of choices which have a real impact on the story. I found the story and side stories to be interesting and supportive of the gameplay. The gameplay itself is pretty damn fun and comparable to the first game, involving stealth, gunplay, tech equipment, special abilities, etc.
I've beaten both the original Deus Ex and now Invisible War and I must say, besides the changes to streamline certain gameplay aspects, Invisible War is just as high quality as the first. It definitely seemed like a true sequel to me, despite what I've read online. And hell, I'd even say the changes make the game a lot easier to get a handle on, as the first game at times felt a bit overwhelming to deal with. I actually felt a lot more engaged with the biomod system in Invisible War because of the fact that it laid out the details more clearly.
The main issue with this game is the loading screen issue. Levels are HEAVILY segmented into separate areas that must be loaded individually, and every time you enter a new area, the game minimizes for a few seconds, comes back up and then takes another few seconds to load. This process also occurs every time you load a save, meaning that even hitting quickload (F12) will force you to wait 10 seconds. The original game had instant quick loading, as MOST games do.
If you are wondering if you should play this after playing the first game, then the answer is yes. Don't let whiny comments about the game being terrible because it was "consolized" fool you. This is a true, high quality sequel to the original Deus Ex.
