Beginner - 1 hit KO?
Am I missing something or can you not 1-hit-knockout an enemy from stealth? Just started the game. I can knock people out with electric prod but once I run out of charges I don't seem to have any other non-violent takedown options. I've tried a baton to the back of the head from stealth but that just seems to piss them off more than anything...

You need to put skillpoints into Low-Tech weapons for melee weapons to be effective. Also standing still and letting the targeting reticle shrink helps with damage (I think). You can also use augmentations like combat strength to increase damage, but you don't have that aug yet in Liberty Island.

You should be able to 1 hit KO with baton from behind at least when your Low-Tech is trained or higher.

You don't need to upgrade lowtech, you just have to hit the sweetspot i.e. their back.

I don't know if this does it in the steam versions, but back in the day if I snuck up on a guy and prodded him with the prod in the back of leg, he'd fall over instantly.

Very helpful thank you :) Seems torso is better than head for baton.

Make frequent use of the Quick Save feature, especially before attacking an enemy. This way, if you ♥♥♥♥ up a stealth manuever you can reload your game and try again.

The aim of Deus ex (stealth game) is to only engage when you have to, it's no surprise you're running out of batteries for the prod. Just sneak around enemies who you don't have the means to take on. It will conserve your ammo for when you really do have to engage IE Battery park after the first mission at the statue of liberty
