This game has 3D right? Getting a new PC and a large screen TV, what do I need to have to play in 3D?
I've never had 3D capabilities before, what specific things do I need to play this in 3D? Just any graphics card that says it does 3D and any random 3D TV, or is it more complicated than that?

It works with those TVs that have passive glasses and use odd/even lines for left and right eye (such as LG passive 3D tvs). It doesn't work with NVidia 3D vision (regretfully) because NVidia 3D vision doesn't support OpenGL. It can also display left eye on one side of the screen and right eye on the other side of the screen albeit that might need some tweaking (currently it doesn't squish the images for either side).

my projector has a few 3D modes, Top Bottom, Frame Packed and Side-by-Side, but using side by side 3D mode in this game causes the game to render twice. 1 3D rendered screen taking up the top half, and one 3D rendered screen taking up the bottom half.

I thought it might be the 3D menu settings being linked to the wrong viewing mode, so I switched the projector to Top-Bottom and its still screwed up.

Is this a bug? It doesnt matter if I have nvidia 3D Vision enabled or switched off, and I'm aware there is no 3D Vision support.

Would it be at all possible to code the game to work with quad buffered Open-GL for nvidia 3D users? nVidia now support this I believe for the last 6 months or so with their drivers.

The Polynomial does not know what mode the projector has been set to, and vice versa, I think. You need to set side by side in the polynomial, this should make it render twice, then in the projector settings you should set the mode to side to side, which should make for a single 3D image. Albeit it might be horizontally stretched. Polynomial doesn't support top and bottom mode presently at all.

I'm going to have to get the hardware and test it. If it's supported I can add the code into the sequel.

Hi,

I had the projector set to SBS 3D mode when I selected it from the menu in-game, which is why I thought there was a bug, because SBS mode renders the screen as if its Top Bottom 3D.

I've tried the Avatar game with SBS 3D and that works OK with the projector, so I can rule out the projector being faulty for now.

I might give it a go later with Tridef to see if I can get it to work that way in SBS mode.

What does it look like when you select side by side in the game but leave the display in non-3d mode?

From memory it looks highly zoomed in so you can only see the top left quadrant of the screen, and out of sync, so one eye is highly offset from the other. In order to cancel out of the 3D view you need to close your right eye so your left eye can read the menu correctly.

Its weird because when you set SBS 3D in the menu, and have SBS 3D set on the projector you get a stereo 3D image produced, however its rendered once in the top half of the screen, and rendered again in the bottom half of the screen, and each half is rendered in stereo 3D.

Until I realised each half is actually in stereo 3D I thought it was a bug and the game was producing Top Bottom 3D.

I'm away from home for a few days but I can check again on Wednesday afternoon when I get back. It's a shame I can't get this to work because I could spend hours playing this in 3D.

Is there any possibility this might be caused because I'm only playing the demo version of the game? I held off buying the full release because at the time this came out I only had an nvidia 3D vision compatible monitor, but I now have the projector which supports nvidia 3D as well as Top Bottom and SBS.

It's very strange that it gets replicated vertically. I only draw the image twice in any of the stereo modes - what is the model of your projector? Maybe there's some configuration issue on the display or graphics card side.

My projector is an Acer 5360BD, but I've just got home and tried the demo again, and for some reason it's now working perfectly in SBS 3D so I've just purchased a copy :-)

It looks amazing, its hard to describe the experience, but this game in 3D on a projector with 5.1 surround sound is flawless...

Thanks Dmytryl, I can't wait to see what you do with the sequel.

If I could make one request, would it be possible to have a dynamic 3D crosshair in the next game? Anything set in 2D at screen depth, like the crosshair and HUD, makes it really difficult to focus because when you focus on stuff in the background all the 2D content gets doubled up.

I discovered my problem. 3D TV Play needs to be set at 60hz for 3D but doesnt support SBS 3D. To get the game in SBS 3D I had to set my refresh rate to 120hz.
