Unexplained (thus far) price jump for Australian and New Zealand users?
Just inquiring as to why there was a large (AU$49 to AU$89/NZ$50 to NZ$90) jump in price for Australian and New Zealand customers. If it was a mistake, then label it as such, mistakes happen...but when there is an overnight jump that large that goes completely unexplained then people start to get ♥♥♥♥ed off. So let's open the channels of communication before the flaming starts...

Edit: Well this has snowballed and been taken up by several gaming websites and still no response. Damn shame that.

You should have figured out which devs seem to be cheap at first then jump, get in before the Aussie tax..

Ouch. People were posting on here the last couple days to pre-order it before the price increased there, so it seems like it was an expected increase.

This would be true, except with online purchases that are made off-shore they technically avoid a lot of the point-of-sale taxes that exist in Australia.

Minimum wage in the US 7.25/hr Austrailian minimum wage is 16.87/hr. That should explain the price difference.

The reason it changed I would assume, was that they simply goofed on putting the right price up.

Its called an Aussie tax, its because we always whinge about it then pay it anyway.. If i miss out on the original price i just refuse to pay the inflated price and wait for a sale.

If its a game i want i make sure i get it when it first goes on pre-order before they jack it up.

Withcer 3,

BL Pre Sequal

and now this.

I got in before the Aussie tax..

Once you take into account how much more expensive everything is here there really isnt much difference in cost of living.

But i wouldnt get out of bed for $17p/Hr

That explains nothing as the cost of living is not the same , besides why should I pay double for a digital download ? I pay the connection cost .

Title now removed from wishlist . Well marketed . Last Civ game I support .

http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=Australia&country2=United+States

Cost of living on average is about 30% cheaper in thhe US, meanwhile minimum wage is more than 100% higher in AU vs US. The prices are based on average income, and cost of living for a country. Which is why the RU versions of games on steam are dirt cheap in comparison.

If you think people should be paying the same amount regardless of how much they make, well then you are crap out of luck. It's a fair version based on disposable income of the average person in each country.

Don't like it that's fine but, don't make it sound like poor marketing, it's basic economics.

Now paying the same for a digital version as physical copy, that I can agree on. It's BS.

it has been 89 on greenmangaming all along (which I use as a benchmark) - I was going to pre-order it 2 days ago at 49... aghhhhhh
DirkDiggler Aug 22 @ 4:39pm

I find, unless there's a Steam sale going on, that the physical copies tend to be cheaper than the digital ones...
