soooo... you used to be able to join friend games
by going to "join game" in the right-click menu on a friend's name in steam...

why did they remove this? it's freaking terrible to have to ask friends for an invite. furthermore steam messaging in-game is buggy and sometimes doesn't even message the recipient, i've been on both sides of this, messaging someone for an hour and getting no response only to have them tell me the game didn't message them, and myself being in game for 3 hours while a friend tries to contact me to no avail

as if playing with your friends wasn't already a pain in the ♥♥♥ to set up, now this crap >:|

if i had to guess i bet they sapped dungeon defender servers to put more beta testers in Dungeon Defenders 2 moba beta. theres alot of strange server hicups lately.

tried a full reinstall, tried something about making a custom game and hitting "reset" for your filters, nothing works

thus far the only solution i've found is to create a public game and just kick anyone who joins that isn't on my friends list

as you can imagine this is not a good idea

setting your steam profile to private may be the problem try friends only and if that don't work try public you can alway set it back after testing

I only have the Problem if a Hosted or Private Game is set to not show in the List of Games.

wouldn't a private game not show anyways?

not a private game I was talking about your steam profile
even if you set your game to private any one on your steam freinds list can still join you
you have to hide your game to block them

so joining from the chat client doesn't work. and joining from the chat using the shift-tab ingame wasn't working. but weirdly enough, if you open the friend profile when he's playing the game a green "join game" appears using steam browser which DOES work properly.

verdict? steam chat client is broken and not making the correct call to join games, steam BROWSER reading the code off profile page has the correct calls to network you together properly

thanks to everyone in this thread for helping me solve this vexing riddle

I've had this happen to me on occassion. Found out that if you join a random AFK shop, then you can join your friend's private game from there using steam chat client. I don't know why it works.

weird i'm gonna give that a try next session just to see if it works for me :D
