Is the online community dead?
It's on sale at gamestop for 3.49, and I was wondering if the game has a dead online community? I bought castle crashers for the online community and realized it was a waste of 5 dollars to just play with others. So can I get a little insight before I make this purchase?

It's not dead, but it's not very active either.

The endgame scene may as well be dead because everyone either expects you to build for them (to which they'll kick you after you do so anyway so they can horde all the loot) or you'll be kicked for not being geared well enough/not the class they want/etc. You can host games yourself to circumvent this.

The game is still fun by yourself, but like all games it's most fun with friends. If you can get at least one friend or forumer to play with you it's worth it.

$3.49 - well worth the few bucks - you can play many many hours with or without friends. There are enough interesting maps on ranked play - and you can play open with an almost endless number of maps to enjoy (Lots of hackers and jerks here though). Just try to play the easier levels before making the leap to Nightmare. Being spoon-fed Nightmare which seems to be all newbies want these days - being power levelled 01-100 in a few hours and all the tough maps before even doing easy or medium to know what a defense tower even is or what to do with them. Try not to go down that path or your game play could just be ruined.

Agreed, I have no idea why so many people jump into the game wanting to get powerlevelled straight to 74+.

They come out of it, have no idea what to do, completely missed the entire point of the game, then ragequit and call it bad. Complete idiots.

I helped make some of those not-so-great players so I can't ♥♥♥♥♥ too loudly about it.

I would buy the game off steam with all the dlc in it for the price it would be better and you will end up wanting or needing it anyway. As for "is it worth it" yea iv played over 500 hours on this game most of it solo (i don't like to accept help from others)

You want insight? The mathematics running this beautiful disaster was created by interns and a CEO full of his moronic self. Amazing game that ultimately ends up essentially a broken clay pot. I'm done with this crap. I'm done with it. I could write a book on the foibles of this disaster but I'm pissed with Trendy and I'm pissed with Steam. And, most people playing this game won't have a single idea what I speak of. DD2 better address the severe failings of the first or I'm going on a commenting warpath across the net.

Definitely true as far as endgame item RNG goes, but 95% of players don't even make it that far anyways.

Even with that in mind, I got my money's worth out of DD and I paid full price for it.

Like I said... amazing game. But, don't plug me for a bunch of DLC and NM levels that are essentially unworthwhile in the long run. YES, it's worth every penny. YES, the game is fantastic. YES, I'm pissed at how impossible it is to evolve into NM without hundreds of hours of work.

I'm sitting at over 1300 hours. 90% of those hours has been great. :) The online comunity isn't as active as it once were. I think the majority play in private or solo it seems.

Why should anyone spend 30 bucks for a result that equals more 100 hours? At some point the mathematics start to take on an addiction aspect right?

Eh, I might be the biggest fan, man. I love this game. Prob is the math behind it pisses me off... I guess you are ok with spending 20 bucks on hundreds of hours.... I'm not. I can't be banned. I've never hacked a game in my life because said behavior is parasitic garbage- the which seems to be the norm for getting into kickass NM these days. Good luck with that.

No: I have slugged and struggled my way through farming everything I have to get through the NM stuff. There are those who managed everything done in 50-80 hours - big-time hack/losers. Now then - I have spent hundreds on games that lasted only 48 hours to complete. Played Free-To-Play and saw how fast the wallet drained to get anywhere in them, Or hundreds on games that just out-right sucked to play - so to play a game for hundreds+ of hours for only $10-30 bucks is amazing.I do not understand your logic of the $20.00=hundreds of hours as a bad thing.
