Banned for having a hacked item unknowingly. How to learn from my mistake.

Dear Defenders,
I am a die-hard fan of dungeon defenders, even having this game since 2 weeks from initial release. Today I was banned for having a hacked cube in my inventory. Though I'm saddened by this new development, I realize it was my responsibility to get my cubes checked by an item checker(all 200 of them). Though I take pride in my itemchecking abilities, I have no ability of checking cubes besides the quality and mana value. I have played this game for a long time, so I am not as disappointed as many new players who are unfairly banned for their inability to see an item's legitimacy. With my farewell I want to give some advice to new players. 1) never sell anything in a tavern shop, this is where I probably aquired a hacked cube. 2) Get the forums armor checker in order to be able to check most items. 3) Trade on forums with experienced players and close online friends. 4) I would recommend not trading in this game at all. If you dont trade with others, you cant get banned and the game lasts much longer for you. Now that i have given advice to new players, I wish to address a solution to trendy. Trendy, if you could provide a workshop to teach players how to check their items as EC-10 and ygf do, then these kinds of problems would not happen. I understand DD2 is coming out, but you still have a strong following for DD1. Please learn from my mistakes friends and enjoy playing a game I can no longer enjoy.

one hacked cube should only get you a temp ban not a permanent one unless it was insanely hacked ,you had many hacked items ,or this was not your first offence
you should write to trendy
usually for hacked but not to hacked items they just delete the item and leave a folder in your item box with a warning

About Ranked bans.
There still seems to be some fears about getting permanently banned in Dungeon Defenders due to gear so this should help alleviate that. We classify bad gear on players into three categories what we like to call hacked(warning), hacked(temporary ban) and insanely hacked.

Hacked Gear(Warning) - If you pick up/buy a piece of this type of gear you'll get a warning. The gear will be removed and a folder will be created in your itembox stating a warning. Hacked gear in this category is gear when it has a few hundred more in stats than it should. Perhaps that pet or weapon you have does 10k more damage than it should, or its a mythical with transcendent stats. Gear like this may not be noticeable by a normal player. Most hacked gear comes from paypal shops and I'd say about 99% of the gear you see in shops is legit so your normal shopping shouldn't be affected by this. A very rare exception to this warning category though is if your entire account is almost all hacked gear in which case you might receive a temporary or permanent ban.

Hacked Gear(Temporary Ban) - If you get a temporary ban due to hacked gear it was because you were caught having hacked gear multiple times. So you'll be given a one last time exception and the gear removed but if you get caught with more gear you'll be rebanned and moved to a permanent ban. It's quite rare for this to happen though as the usual players who get rebanned are paypal shop buyers who wait a week and re-buy entire sets of hacked gear.

Insanely Hacked Gear(Permanent Ban) - If you are caught with gear like this you will get a permanent ban and there is really no exceptions. Here is a good example of this type of gear: http://i.imgur.com/zYahL.jpg This gear is quite obviously different from all other types of gear and there is no excuse for using such gear. Now a bit less obvious hacked gear would be gear with all perfect stats like 600(840 with bonus) in every slot on an ultimate piece of gear. If you're caught with just a single piece you'll most likely be placed in the other category the first time. But if you have 4 characters all with 4 pieces of maxed 600 in every stat gear you'll likely get a permanent ban. This type of ban is the majority of our gear bans by far.

Why? because it is not checked by Trendy, just with some people with some skills. if you give hi 2 same item one of them hacked, they cant tell you this one is hacked, because there is probably not item generator controll chain. Only trendy can tell you if something is hacked or not.

Yeah i know of this, but trendy takes hacked currency extremely seriously

I obtained a hacked item from a bunch of children who where ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in an Open server without knowing it was hacked. It didn't feel right to use it, so I purged all my Freeplay data with my ranked data. (Ranked wasn't even touched.) why would anyone make such things? It ruin's the whole point of the game. ;-;

I know EC-10 and I don´t think he can recognize hacked cube from legit. How you get 200 cubes with 400hours of play? It smell a lot. I think every ban have some reason. And it is not dupped cube.

I personally know EC-10 and he can check cubes to see if they were spawned in a program. Also I have owned the game since 2011, but for some reason steam has messed up my hours of gameplay, im about 1k hours. I have seen legit players have 50 cubes at 200 hours gameplay simply because they have rich friends who boost their players up or are extremely lucky with their drops in nmhc survival

Edit: also those cubes were after I sold all of my capped supreme and most my weps. I was trying to buy a solid dps jester and an OP summoner on forums

You're totally on the money here. 383 hours online, and 200 cubes. You don't get banned for having a hacked cube. So, something really stinks here. I'd imagine you had a fair few

Item checkers can only tell you if they are possible, and if they are hacked. "It's 100% definitely not hacked"... I don't even think their 'hard check' can do that.

Like I said, EC-10 and ygf both can by opening source code. I reccommend you go to these players to get your items checked. P.S. they do item checking for trendy and on forums.

Because people like status and wealth, even though it doesnt come legitimately. Many hackers buy all the content and never play the game!

If you were banned it was because of insanely hacked items, multiple offences or multiple hacked items.

I have worked alongside Trendy for long enough to know that;

A) when you get banned, it doesn't say why, just that you are banned.
B) they don't ban for one item.

I'm calling bs on everything you've said. EC-10 can't check hacked cubes other than checking them like everyone else (stats, colour, etc).

You were banned because you got caught. Bye.

Classic, he says he can check it because of item quality, and I asked him to check my personal friends' cubes who i have bought stuff from in the past week. I have no reason to lie. The only hacked item I have ever had was when I lent bar_bar_ an ult++ drop i got and he gave me back a duped one, which I found out when i tried to sell ygf it. Also finland sayed i had a hacked cube in the past but I didnt believe him. I can show you the messages on forums if you wish.
