thats no help to me. seems like theres a problem installing vc redist. even though i got all of the newest versions and tried to reinstall these programs and also tried to install dd without them installed so dd could do it

Then I'd try contacting Trendy as they are usually willing to add in a patch to help people out because it usually affects multiple players. In fact, I've seen this exact problem here before with no solution.

Solved this problem.

Download the file the corresponds to your system. Extract. Run the registry key. Click "Yes" on the message that pops up.

Windows 7/8, Vista, XP - 32 bit: http://www.iceneko.com/dd/win7_32.zip
Windows 7/8, Vista - 64 bit: http://www.iceneko.com/dd/win7_64.zip

After I did this, it didn't bother to try to install the redist package, it went straight to the next step. Let me know if that helps.

I had the same problem with Dungeon Defenders too. But when I tried to click on the link, chrome just said that it couldn't find the website. Is it a link to an actual web address?

Run the registry key (32 or 64 bits) and it should works fine :)

I think I may be able to help here.

Go into:

Steam\steamapps\common\Dungeon Defenders\Binaries\Redist

Then run:

UE3Redist.exe

That should fix the issue.

If not, then you need a registry fix to tell Dungeon Defenders you've installed this to work around it. I'm afraid I only have this for 64-bit Windows. You should make a registry entry entitled win7_64.reg (which you can do by making a notepad.txt file and renaming it) with the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TrendyEntertainment\DungeonDefenders]
"InstalledUE3Redist"=dword:00000001

You then install that and it should load up. It's worked for me on several 64-bit installs of Windows 7.
