Crashes when hosting game?
My game seems to only crash when I host a game. Typically after about 3-4 minutes, whether I'm just in the tavern or actually playing. My computer can handle this game no problem. but I do have it installed on a separate hard drive. Could this be the problem?

Does it crash when other people try to join your game?
Are you running Windows 8?

System:
Windows 7
i5 3570k under water
670 FTW card
16gb memory
256 SSD boot drive
3tb HD storage drive (partitioned off multiple times)

Game crashes whenever I host a private match after 4 minutes. Whether it's just me, my brother and I, or a full lobby. I really think it has to be the fact that it is on 2 separate drives since I can see no other reason that would cause this. And the entire system doesn't crash, it is just the game. It freezes up and I have to kill the processes to get out of it.

The game is split in two separte drives?

no the game is installed on my G: partition of the 3tb drive, while steam and the actual W7 OS is installed on my C: partition of the SSD. So I am guessing that the game can't handle hosting while it is pulling info from the separate drive. Doesn't make sense but it's the only thing I can think of since I can play no problem when my brother hosts the match (we are in the same house, same router. He is hard wired and I am wireless, using AC tho)

But, you installed it there from steam?? If so it shouldn't be giving you any issue.

Have you configured the router opening the ports needed for steam gaming?? You can find a guide in the help section of the store. Furthermore, you can try DD with the -tcp option and see if it works.

Yeah I used steam to install all of my games there. Actually, I am using junctions to have it installed on the G: drive, while a mirror appears in the C: drive for steam to check (otherwise it says corrupt client and tries to redownload itself).

As for the ports, I will try that again but I have my PC set in the DMZ so I always get priority DL speeds and no problems with firewalls etc. Already tried the tcp trick and it didn't help. thanks for the feedback though, at least i'm getting some help. the DD forums haven't been able to do anything for me yet.

Ok, one last thing I can think of, the router sees the two connections, your brother's wired + your wireless, as separate, if you can host games from your borther wired connection then the problem might lie in the routher requiring further configuration for the wireless one.

I have a similar setup here and I can assign different ports to both connections, that might be worth a shot to try in your router.
