select dungeon defenders in your steam library
right click and click properties
local files
verify integrity of game cashe.
I've backed up files, and reinstalling the game.
Will see if the same problem occurs again... :/
what exactly happens?
can you access the configuration files?
have you tried a steam/computer restart?
if you can get to a splash screen but it then goes to a black screen and then errors, try switching the launch provider to gamespy in the configure settings and run it, then exit and switch back to steam.
Thanx for the help anyway! :)
Now I'm off to play finally. :)
Try all the suggestions on the FAQ - http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?39570-Tech-Support-FAQ-(PLEASE-READ-BEFORE-POSTING)
And if anyone knows how to change the resolution settings when the game won't actually open please do let me know because that's the only suggestion on there I haven't managed to try!
can you access the configure menu?
run dungeon defenders a splash screen with exit play and configure should appear
click configure
go to gfx/sound
the resolution can be set here
if you want to do this outside this menu then you can do it by editing the file udkengine.ini
found in your local disk/program files/ steam/steamapps/common/dungeon defenders/UDKGame/Config/UDKEngine.ini
open this files and use ctrl+F to locate the line with resx
this is your horizontal resolution
below it is your vertical resolution (resy)
edit: since you have had this problem for 2 weeks i assume you have already tried a restart of steam/cpu.
try a complete reinstall of the game
and switching to gamespy and back as mentioned earlier (ive heard this fixed the problem for a few people a while back.) provided you can access the configure menu
I totally thought that was about to fix it... the resx and resy were both set to 0 but I changed them and just tried launching again and still nada!
I've tried a total uninstall/reinstall, I've deleted all the local files and verified the cache integrity to get them back, I've changed the name of the launch files and changed them back... Starting to give up hope!
How do I switch to gamespy? It says further up to do this from the configure settings but like I said I can't get into those the normal way!
Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions!
try running steam as an administrator
is your system locale set to anything else other than english?
control panal/ clock,language and region/ region and language/ administrative/ change system locale.
ive heard this is also an issue it needs to be english
do you have any custom launch options? go to dungeon defenders, properties, set launch options. if you have anything their delete them.
make sure that the resx and resy are properly saved
make sure that the game is set to automatically update (properties, update)
the only thing i can recommend at this point is to try and update your graphics drivers
are you using a mac? ive heard also there are still a few problems when running the game on certain macs.
i would try and post on this website and try and get a techy at trendy to help you:
http://forums.trendyent.com/forumdisplay.php?21-PC-Mac-Tech-Support-amp-Bug-Reports
also a list of known issue:
http://forums.trendyent.com/showthread.php?44150-Current-Known-Issues-Last-Updated-10-30-12
and no your questions are not stupid, no question is stupid :)
As far as I'm aware I don't have any custom launch options because I have no idea how to get into those settings... comes up with a pop-up saying you have to be an 'Advanced user' to access them and nothing I type in works to get me access?
Resx and y are def saved and I tried rebooting after changing them and still nothing
Updates are automatic
I don't have a graphics card as such... I'm running on my cpu's integrated graphics at the mo but it's capable of running every other game on my list including just out ones like Civ V so I can't really see that being the problem... I'll find out the specifics today though and post them up tonight incase that is the issue!
Not a Mac either xD Running windows 7 64bit on a custom build (as I said I'll get a list of the details today and post up tonight)
I'll have a look at both those links this evening too! Seriously at the point where it's not worth spending any more time trying to fix it though x.X Paid less than £5 for the game last xmas and I've probably now spent more time trying to fix it than I've spent playing it xD
the advanced user pop up, there should be a box you can type in that needs to be blank. but i assume that already is
as for updating your integrated graphics its best to go to the manufacturers website and manually search for the latest update. steam can help you with this click on the steam application click steam and you should find an option called check for video driver update.
if your system can run civ v it should be able to run dungeon defenders, but yes post your cpu specs just in case.
1 more thing as well, when you click dungeon defenders and it dissappears does it still say you are running it on steam? ie you go green instead of blue, or do you just stay blue?
im sorry this isn't progressing well for you :( it's a shame the game is pretty fun to play, but ye try and get the techy at trendynet to help out if we cant resolve your issue here.
Having trouble updating graphics right now as I've been having problems getting Java to run on here too and the updater uses sysreqlab to detect hardware which uses Java >_< Still working on fixing that D=
It goes green for a second and then back to blue, and I just noticed that at the same time it's green 'Syncing' flashes up next to the game name in the library and then disappears again too
Processor is Intel i5-3450, waiting on the rest at the mo >_<
