"Error. Prerequisites did not install correctly."
I've recently bought Dungeon Defenders and I'm in a Setup for the DD Prerequisites, it says "Installing VC Redist..." and the bar remains still for a while. Then it shows an error claiming "Error. Prerequisites did not install correctly. Setup cannot continue"

I've tried restarting my computer, Restarting Steam the installing, Deleting Local Content and Redownloading the game. Right now I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 and 2012 x86, .NET Framework 4.5 and 3.5 SP1, XNA Framework 4.0.

My PC should be able to run the game, I tested it through http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/ and it should be able to run it fast. I've updated my computer to its most recent and updated Window components.

My PC has 2.4 GHz of CPU Speed, 3.3 GB of RAM, my OS is Windows Vista 32-bit and my video card is a ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series.

Can someone please help me with this situation please? It would be greatly appreciated

Your computer is on the slow side. This might be a stupid suggestion but have you tried verifying game cache? The error message makes me think the installation was successful but the first time run requirements did not.

I've verified it and the problem persists. I've even temporarily disabled my Anti-Virus to see if it was becoming an obstacle but it didn't work either

Try reading and posting on the official forums. See if they can help as I've never run into this problem on any steam game.

I'm having the same issue. Would also like a solution to this. I'm running an Amd Fx-8350, win7 64 bit, and a GTX 560 Ti

I figured it out, turns out I didn't have all of my updates on my computer finished installing, eventually my Windows Update program went corrupt but I figured out the problem and I found the solution

From what Technical Support told me on the phone you'll have to download a new Windows Update program that isn't corrupt

I've only been able to find service packs but somewhere there's a download for Windows Update. Best to make sure these are on a Microsoft.com site or somewhere else reliable like HP.com

BS it's NOT on the slow side, but MAY be like me recently let winders update AND download a game w/steam enforced fake installs which phail and all goes tro hell in a handbasket.

Turn around rollback/redo update/reboot and THEN let the crap steam install of nothing go and woohoo workz....

Steam has gotten to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy about installing whatever little M$ crap for games recently, and it drives me nuts especially when(most of the time) it doesn't need to install, and they're just covering their ass(admittedly from ther VAST majority of dimwits, but still...)

I think I may be able to help here.

Go into:

Steam\steamapps\common\Dungeon Defenders\Binaries\Redist

Then run:

UE3Redist.exe

That should fix the issue.

If not, then you need a registry fix to tell Dungeon Defenders you've installed this to work around it. I'm afraid I only have this for 64-bit Windows. You should make a registry entry entitled win7_64.reg (which you can do by making a notepad.txt file and renaming it) with the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\TrendyEntertainment\DungeonDefenders]
"InstalledUE3Redist"=dword:00000001

You then install that and it should load up. It's worked for me on several 64-bit installs of Windows 7.

This worked!! Thank you :) tried a few other things, but none worked except for running UE3Redist.exe you're awesome :D

I was having the same problem as the OP. The first part that this guy ^^ sugessted worked for me, but i had to go into the properties for "UE3Redist.exe." and change the compatability mode to windows 7. After that, I had no issues whatsoever.
