Dungeon Defenders on Linux, does it work for anybody?
Hey,
is anybody able to play DD on linux without issues? I mean anybody!? Without crashes, with working physics (mana moves towards player like in win-version),with working keyboard and mouse.... (and so on)
I dont quite see how this got through the review-process.

It's working nearly perfectly from me on a fairly minimalistic installation of arch-linux. apart from these issues. http://steamcommunity.com/app/65800/discussions/0/810920962548709477/

It plays great! except that the gems don't get auto picked up. and a few texture glitches, but texture glitches are only visual so they're secondary problems.

not being able to magnet mana and you say it plays great? you must have some strong nerves... without mana-magneting you cannot do timed builds, because you have to wait for chest to despawn to get to the mana, you cannot collect mana from flying enemies, mana gets stuck in walls and behind objects.... that alone is a pretty big showstopper for me. there is no use trying nightmaremode without mana-magneting... but at least it seems to start and not crash for u!
however - regarding my question in the title, would mean you too cannot play without issues. i guess the mana bug really everybody has. lets hope there still will be patches

Works for myself as well with an integrated intel hd4000 gfx card on my laptop. Mana does not magnet though as others have reported, hoping for a fix to this as well for the already stated reasons.

the bug report for the mana problem got updated by icculus. it is now assigned and he is working on the bug. see here: https://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5831
so things for this getting fixed in a patch are looking good. +1 for icculus

Run's quite poorly on my machine. It will launch with Intel graphics but the poor performance makes it unplayable. My machine is an i7 with 8gb RAM. I also have nVidia Optimus, but the game won't even launch with nVidia graphics enabled.

Not working for me here, Fedora 18 64 bit 16GB i7 3770k Intel 4000 graphics, white screen on load, can hear sound and yet to find any error output :(

The port runs poorly on my machine too. 12GB, 3,5ghz quadcore, nvidia prop driver with a 240gts. It runs on max flawlessly in windows and on linux ugh dont get me started. :(

Have a Windows/Mac user host the game. From Linux you won't visually see the mana magnet to you, but you'll notice the crystals disappear and your mana count go up.

Ya, not ideal, but it's not a huge showstopper. If you plan on playing seriously for extended periods of time you really should have a Windows user host, anyway.

I have a i7/8gb/optimus setup as well and the game works fine for me. However, (assuming you have installed the optimus drivers correctly) you do have to modify the $HOME/Steam/SteamApps/common/Dungeon Defenders/DungeonDefenders file and on the last line where you are doing the exec of the game, you have to put in exec optirun the game instead so it runs with optirun.

Do note that I have personally found that while the game does run faster and smoother with nicer graphics then it does with the ivy bridge graphics, it also tends to crash a lot which I haven't exactly figured out why that is.

Works perfectly here after I disabled steam overlay. (nvidia 313.18 and debian wheezy) I had random crashes in multiplayer and those crashes disappeared after I disabled steam overlay.

disabled steam overlay for DD, still have (too) many crashes. trying with steam overlay disables dof all games

just crashed. This seriously sux.

that is not "works fine", it's "doesn't work".

Same issue for me!
I bought the game 'cause it was (supposedly) linux-compatible. I'm sooo disappointed ;(
