i got all my dlc on 75% off on one of the many sales they do on DD. Was worth it for new bits of content or the fun stuff imo :)

not sure why you think the DLC is mandatory to play...isn't it all optional maps and costumes?
GOKUSSL4 Nov 14, 2013 @ 3:41pm
Also the people who own the map can host and you can join that map.
Zebrakiller Nov 14, 2013 @ 4:32pm
I can join the maps form the DLC if I don't have it?
Softspokenman Nov 14, 2013 @ 4:40pm
most yes but not all none of the Eternia Shard maps and a few others I believe

Got sick of the DLC a while ago - me and 5 of my friends moved our wallets away from this company. DD2 is coming out soon - just read it in this month's Game Informer...not even looking at it. :lonestar:

DLC is optional, though it's quite stupid.
Jorkfriend Nov 25, 2013 @ 5:58am
The only DLC worth anything is the Lost Eternia pack, Summoner DLC, and Series EV DLC.

Rest are easily overlooked. Most of the spammy dlc is stupid challenge packs or half♥♥♥♥♥♥♥awful missions. (Looking at you, thanksgiving♥♥♥♥♥♥

They're not microtransactions, they're DLC; I know it's a grey area, but that's how it is. You are not - I repeat - NOT obligated to buy all the DLC, nor is Trendy obligated to freely distribute them amongst people who feel they are entitled to them.

As I'm sure has been pointed out, sales and charity bundles, offer this game very, very cheap. This game is well worth every penny, IMO. I've over 1,000 hours in this game, and, even though it is heaving full of issues, I still don't regret it.

I will consider it from the Humble Bundle and I think this is always a valuable lesson.

Being that if the game makers want to make money out of DLC then always wait until the game is of an age where it goes GOTY and get them in a sale.

True you are behind the curve, but as I am playing Settlers 4 from 2001 at the moment that has never bothered me.

This game does seem to have an excessive amount as well, but for $6 I can justify the whole pack.

And on installation it gives you everything but the tinkerer's, so I don't think $6 is that bad at all even if I don't ever look at the other 5 games in the bundle.
