Enemy variety is ok but there is nothing too creative, like the Sharken for example. or the djinn.
build mage and squire towers and do combat with jester, after some default towers are up lay jesters down and fps it.
or do the same but rts it with a summoner
or do neither and go for a towerless map with monk ensare and hunter traps
or do nothing and go full barbarian, and fight like a gladiator
or do pvp
then there is always the challanges for certain maps as well as the extra assault the crystal modes where you are the enemy.
Then there is the RPG/Gearing element to the game, as well as different ways to build. I actually have 2 different mages, one that is nothing but range and dmg for towers, i use hi for deadly strikers to take down wyverns, and ogres, the other has atk speed and dmg for once they get closer and get fireballed.
At most with sanctum you can choose your gun and for sanctum 2, one of two chars. You may not swap and they share a tower pool.
both sanctums combined reach only 10% of the content of DD
except sanctum is more balanced and not grindy at all.
you are also really limited on towers and player intervention is mandatory on all waves. Traditional TD games do not even allow you to have an avatar, you simply have to fight with towers.
DD rewards this gameplay with multipliers at the end of a round, but allows you to intervene if needed. sanctum restrict you into being forced to FPS it.
I have both Sanctums and on Sanctum 2 it can get quite irritating when the towers becomes usless and only the Shotgun and Sniper can deal with the problem since both deals huge damage against the one with the weakness on the butt and the bubblehead.
Dont get me started on the last map of the original campaign. Got quite frustrated and tire... went to youtube to watch the ending. Sanctum 2 does somethings right but the elitism on tower defense is on 11 and they have to tone it down to at least 8 or make it a choice.
simple :D
impossible missions is strat, spec, or gear
as for how many i have played, lets see. off the top of my head the south park one on xbox arcade, orcs must die 1 and 2, plants vs zombies, sanctum 1 and 2, the various TD games for Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2, Starcraft, also played the 'tower assult' called battlefiled earth or something
im sure im forgetting some. if its a TD game i have likely played it. my 1st ever was the warcraft 3 one.
the final wave was 8 different lanes of Archimonde with 50mil hp walking, immune to all elemental dmg types except chaos, which came from a tower you couldnt really afford until that final wave. the only way to really do it was use the no dmg lightning towers to stunlock them while you sell the rest for chaos towers, slowly chunking them down across all lanes.
trendy has abandoned this game in search of more money in dd 2 nightmare was left unbalanced and the rng that trendy admits is broken was left unfixed plus cheaters and unfair bans run ramped hardly a greatest ever formula but I will say through insane this is a top 10
they had a great game that they abandoned way to soon on pc
