Progression Advice Please
Me and my girlfriend have played DD for a while and recently got back into it to ease the boredom until the release of DD2.

We seem to be stuck on progression though. We find NM quite hard and have only completed a few of the early levels. We have several characters.

Tower App, Monk, Summoner, Countess, Hunter
DPS Huntress, Barb, Series EV

Best gear we have is some mythical gear that takes relevant tower/dps stats to about 500-600.

Can anyone suggest how we progress from here, where to get the next upgrades of gear, best weapons (bearing in mind we can only complete a few nightmares) we can complete mistyweave insane survival.

Also any recommendation for changes to chars specs/builds and combos.

Thanks

Lab Assault is a easy way to obtain Trans Gear in Nightmare Labs.. and if u need help on it.. i can Solo some for you and your GF to find some gear.. however Weapons... Depending on class.. Example.. If you want a Blaster Rifle Tinker's Lab has that. If u want a DPS monk weapon.. Probably Cyrstal Dimenson on Nightmare. Squire/Barb DPS is Either Obsiden Weapons in Akatiti or Steam Saw in Sky City. So it's hard to answer that questions. Either Way.. Send me an Add and i'll help you out.. or build a map for you.
Thanks for the advice, I still feel we are some way off reaching that step of progression we are just level 74 and have (almost) completed Alchemy Lab NMHC. Need to try and bridge the gap between where we are now and your next steps.

Do we just keep going with the nightmare campaigns and shard maps? or is there another way?

Thanks again!
what you need is better gear. And campaign mode wont deliver that - except for a few end-of-map weapon rewards.
You have 2 paths.
Survival or lab assault (tinkerers lab, assault challenge).

Of those, lab assault is by far the easiest and fastest to get up to speed. It is also the most repetetive of the two.
If you go that way, start on easy and keep upping the difficulty until you can no longer do it with HC mode on. Then stick to the difficulty you could complete.

The other is NM survival. This is also needed for the better DPS pets. For kobolds, you ought to farm them on insane, though that is less rewarding in terms of xp/mana/gear.
Specially when you are poorly geared (like any newcomer to NM) a strong DPS pet makes a huge difference, despite having to get close to get any mileage out of it.
Start on deeper well and magus quarter, the 2 most accessible maps.
It may seem futile at first, but once you begin going past wave 10 (first milestone) and then wave 15 (pet reward), you being getting (many) myths. And then the mana starts rolling in.
Once you have you foot in the door like that, you can move up the ladder of maps as you gradually gear up.

Back when i was i your position i was torn between mistymire survival INHC and frustratingly bad progress in deeper well - there was no tinker lab in those days.
Misty does, in the last 5 waves or so, probably give you more myth than first 10 waves of deeper well survival NMHC. And damn the xp was way better.
But as soon as you can manage past wave 10, go for it. At 74 you should stop worring about XP, you get that faster than you get quality gear that requires higher levels (DLC weapons and accs aside).

In hindsight, i would have started on magus quarter instead.
Until you start getting copters, magus is easier to defend.
What have been said here don't solve your problem, as you said your stats are about 500k, and that can't take you nowhere on nightmare nor in lab assault, so what's left for you to do?
You have now to start doing survival levels, it grants you loads of mana, so you can buy things in peoples shop and have chance to drop mythical gears on insane difficulty.
Going for challenges, survival, hardcore mode and mix mode on insane or lower if too hard is the way to start to carve a path to nightmare, I had to a great struggle to reach super powers in this game and to master tower building in a demanding game that survival is, so enjoy the game as it should be, tackle the challenge of survival and go though it, you'll be richly rewarded for doing so, and be a step closer to proper building, and better gears.
Thanks for all the above posts. Since my first post we have managed to complete Misty INHC survival. Alc Lab NMHC and Throne Rome NMHC, also Alc Lab NMHC survival to wave 15 (most myths I've ever seen). We also managed to do tinkerers lab on easy (although thats misleading at level 74, it wasnt easy) got through it by the skin of our teeth. We've thoroughly enjoyed these levels. They were a challenge and some took quite a few attempts (and arguments lol) before we completed them.

We are now better off for gear and will carry on in the same vain attempting NMHC survivals and trying to perfect Tink Labs to work our way up the levels. We'll be working on getting some weapons and some mana to upgrade them next also.

All in time for DD2 release probably! Thanks for everyone's time in replying, especially Tydo.
When many suggest doing lab assault i suspect they are talking about the BF drill loophole, you can complete the entire thing on nightmare as long as you do enough damage to kill the crystals. (not a very strict requirement) It can take a little bit of practice though.

Honestly i would only do this if you want to skip most of the game.

Nonsense, he can still do lab assault on easy/medium and that will quicky allow him to increase the difficulty with the rewards from that.
Don't make it sound harder than it is.

And you're welcome chris, i am glad that it helped. If lab assault is still giving you trouble, you may want to try going through youtube video for ways to improve.
