Is it still worth getting ??

I have wanted to get this game ever since it came out, but due to a verry tight budget I was not able to and now that the problem is taken care of I am left wondering if it is still worth the money to buy this game ...

What I want to know is this:
1. Are there allot of people still playing this game?
2. Will those people still keep playing this game when DD2 gets released?

The reasons for these questions are that it won't help me buying a multiplayer focused game (yes I know you can play this game by yourself, but that is just sad) when there aren't allot of people playing it currently and it won't help me buying this game when the developers are launching DD2 later this year (just what I heard it might be later or sooner) and all of the fans leave this game to play no.2

If the community can assure me that these problems and concerns are not going to happen then I will buy this game with the greatest of plesures ... Thank you for reading and hopefully answering.

The community is still very active and probably will be for awhile yet. Plenty of people still play multiplayer so I dont think you will have much of a problem finding people to play with even after dd2 is released there will be people playing this for awhile after simply because not everyone can get it right away but that release is aways off still anyway to my knowledge.

I will still be playing this game when the sequal comes out. The newer one looks like it will have nice graphics and for those games I would prefer to get for the consel system. But for online games I go PC, because for the X-box 360 you have to pay extra per a month for multiplayer. So there's a contridition there. Also, I bought most of the DLC and I plan on using that DLC.

As for DLC, the one for four new heroes is not worth getting. They are just the main characters reskinned with slightly alternative abilities. Buy the new characters (summoner, barbarian, robot girl) they have new buildings/towers.

Wait for everything to go on sale first. Things always go on sale in steam.

Nah, DD1 isn't for you then. Most of the time these days is spent solo-farming with AFKs to get better gear quicker.

"Heartache"? No, I don't see how that'd be an issue. I don't insult people that prefer to play a certain style (the "sad" way, to quote you s'more) without cause. So, I guess there should be more people like me, and less like you. Read between the lines: Irony, I have it.

you shoulkd get full eternia shards dlc it has a bit of a discount as it is bought together and gives you nightmare mode (really important) and all eternia shard maps, the crystalline edimension (the hardest lvl) and akititi (the hardest single lvl) so its a pretty awesome dlc

Thanks when I was cycling through all the dlc in the store, only a few stood out ... the game itself, the eternia shards dlc, and the summoner dlc + the telay mining complex. Hopefully one of the items goes on sale soon so i can save 1 or 2 bucks.

it isn't dd2 thats killing/killed multi player in this game its the endless grinding and rarity of great drops the fear of loosing them to another, looters ,and power levelers that have no clue how to play
that makes every one (well almost every one) quit go solo or friends only

I would understand why people would rather go with friends because you can kick you friends ass if he steals one of the weapons that you wanted ... but I would guess that the community is mature enough that if a player says he really wants a mythical sword, that they would let him have it ...
