How you kill bosses?
bergzwerver Jan 25 @ 11:28am
the boss gauntlet is a lot easyer with two builders, but the bosses there shouldn't be a problem. the old one is easyest with a barb, you can practice fighting him on the old one practice map on open.

But if you play it solo you lose at final no boss waves because you have no time for build ... And "Heroes" easy destroy all )

SPOILERS ARE CONTAINED IN THIS POST ON HOW TO DEAL WITH THE FINAL BOSS
DON'T READ IT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE STRATEGY BEHIND IT.

I'm going to go ahead and assume all builders have 2.5-3.5K stats.

I'm also going to assume your DPS has a decent weapon and capped Generic and Fire Resist.

Boss Gauntlet setup:

Strength Drain, Electric, Ensnare Auras, you need four at each edge of the Knight. Drop your remaining Mana on your Monk/Initiate and Switch to EV and lay two buff beams and connect them to the Auras. Use your remaining mana to upgrade the buff beams. Switch to your DPS and use their mana to upgrade the Buff Beams further.

Wave Start:

Always watch your map for Ogres to spawn when dealing with the Bosses.

Kill the bosses on the ground first and leave the dragon for last. Watch your map for Ogres as they should be the only mob that can slip through your Auras.

Soon after I get the bosses killed with the exception of the Dragon an Ogre spawns for me and I have to kill it.

After I deal with the Ogre I'm back on the bosses, at this time I'm at the dragon but it's fine if you have a lower DPS.

Just keep watching for Ogres as you hunt down the remaining bosses.

After the final boss is dead, Congratulations, now the real struggle begins.

The Old One:

The Old One is a bit more tricky on NMHC, but I've done it as well and I'll let you know my tricks.

I've done this successfully multiple times on my Amazon Barbarian (Amazon for speed boost) with a high success rate.

You can do this with any character but I'll list my Strategy, which you should follow as any class and win.

Let me say this. Avoid all fire, it is not a sign to strike when he casts fire. Avoid it because this is what will likely kill you if you avoid his direct attacks.

Another thing I have to state now is, This is very much a turn style battle. He will not wait for you to finish hacking at him. He will attack you in mid strike and you will die if you get too greedy. Get in a few good hits and back away or you're already dead as his attacks will usually annihilate you in a single strike.

Don't be greedy, Keep a safe distance, Avoid fire, and you will have a much higher chance of winning.

Old One's Feet:
First stand close to the edge of the map and wait for him to attack. Avoid the fire. You want a Shockwave or Stomp. After this I jump over his Shockwave with Tornado Stance and immediately rush in. Disable Tornado Stance and Hawk Strike his foot. Back away to near the edge again and repeat for the other foot.

Of course if you aren't a Barbarian just keep at a distance and shoot out the crystals or strike him. Be aware of what I said, He won't wait forever before he attacks. Don't get greedy.

After his feet are gone he'll raise a portion of the platform up to his Torso.

Old One's Torso:
Stand in the middle of the map near the edge. Wait for him to attack again. Avoid fire, obviously.

Old One's Shockwave:
If he slams both of his palms on the ground he is creating a Shockwave be ready to jump over it with Tornado Stance if you're a Barbarian Otherwise, a well timed Jump will do it. Then aim for one of his Palms immediately. If you're a Barbarian Disable Tornado Stance and Hawk Strike the palm, If you aren't simply strike the palm. He won't attack as long as his palms are against the Arena. When he raises his palms return to your Original Position.

Old One's Palm Strike:
In this scenario he'll slam a singular palm down. This does massive damage but won't create a shockwave. Simply run up to it and Hawk Strike it if you're a Barbarian, Otherwise simply strike it. He won't attack as long as his palm is against the Arena. When he raises his palm return to your Original Position.

Old One's Laser Beam:
Finally, in this Scenario he'll thrust out his Stomach and shoot either a Laser Beam that follows you or Three that randomly runs across the Arena. Avoid the Lasers and rush up to his Stomach. Hawk Strike his Stomach if you're a Barbarian or just Strike it otherwise and avoid the lasers. He won't begin a new attack as long as his lasers are firing. When his lasers stop return to your Original Position.

Congratulations, You have defeated the Old One's Torso.

He'll raise a final piece of the Platform to his Head

Old One's Head:
For this final confrontation he'll raise you to his head. This is the most deadly part of the fight.

This is the part of the fight I have least amount of practice on as if I wait around too long I will die.

There is undoubtedly a better way to deal with his head that I have not discovered. However, this worked for me as a Barbarian.

I usually dash to the Left side of the arena. To the very edge. and stand in the middle between the two edges. Wait for him to attack. He'll usually Swipe, Create a Shockwave, Does a Palm Strike, or do a Breath Attack. He will knock you into the air if he does a Palm Strike. Try to land inside the arena.

After that quickly dash to the middle of the Arena and Hawk Strike his head.

After you deal 33% damage to his head he'll lower the Arena to his feet. You need to defeat his Feet and Torso again to damage his head. After his head hits 0% The final cinematic plays.

This is by far my favorite fight of the game It's tough as nails no matter how high your stats are. You can always get unlucky. It also has some amazing music. All of Crystalline Dimension does though.

There is a workshop item called Old One Practice, I highly recommend you subscribe to it and practice the Old One on open with your Ranked Characters.

That is what I was answering, They asked how is it possible to do bosses solo. I provided them with the answer. I wasn't able to complete NMHC CD until I had 4-5k stats across my builders. I assume we're talking about Nightmare if we are talking about Mythical-Trans gear.

Thanks for the post Avous. I have to admit that I haven't beaten that solo. I tried but got my butt kicked sooooo many times. Gonna give this strategy a try next time I play.

Yes, he is handy like that. Just have to poke him carefully, then he springs into action with long post and even goes back to edit them if he is not satisfied with his answer.... which is where the careful poking comes in :)
My initial CD to old one before I accidentally jumped off the map was ~2-2.2k

The gaunt is actually easier than apprentice waves, unless you have slow builders. Just watch ogres as that's the only thing that will make it through.
