If you have never played any of the dungeon defenders, eternity would be better. If you have played dungeon defenders, there's really no difference other than "balance" changes and starting a new character. However the lack of local coop in eternity is the main turnoff imo, so if you have family/friends you want to play with on the same PC, the first DD is better.

Both are great basically, played DD1 quite a lot but DDE has also its charm. It's different though :)

The devs are looking into a splitscreen solution for DDE as announced but there is currently no guarantee it will make it into the game yet. So like jong said; If you want to play right now via splitscreen then DD1 would be your choice otherwise I would directly start with DDE due to secure servers.

eternity by far.

eternity is a mess and is having issues with buffs ,nerfs, and saves being reverted
at the moment it is not worth playing for me at least do to loss of progress even if you do like the game in the last 2 weeks I have lost 75-80% of all progress made form saves being reverted after the match

that being said there are currently more people playing dd1 than dde and dde has loss 70-85 %
of its average/peak players sense release less than 2 months ago

I never lost any progress; 0% loss, you have to report your issue anyways.

You can definitely say that DD1 is also a mess, you just learned to deal with its flaws meanwhile you are to focused on DD1 when you play DDE :)

Also your comparison with player peaks is highly inaccurate. Your are comparing a 3-years old game which where plenty of times on massive sale vs a 5-weeks old game which supports much more platforms than only steam.
The doctor is in Aug 31 @ 11:24pm
both are great and worth getting (when on sale)

cause dd1 still has lots of stuff that dde does not

and dde has lots of stuff dd1 does not

in my experience the first game is always the best and the classic

If you are expecting to play mostly single player DD1 is superior. If you are going to play with friends that you can trust not to hack DD1 is superior. If you want to play multiplayer with random public weirdos then probably DDE is better.

You said everything is ♥♥♥♥ and that's not true. You are making the game worse than it is.

I just said I have no issues with rollbacks, and I don't have any. So no need to insult me. You are also referring to a thread which were created after they have fixed the rollbacks for 95% of the players. The guys who are replying there certainly experience another bug which leads to the same result.

However, as more people report it with as much information as possible as quicker it will be resolved.

Anyways nice try to dis me :p

It funny but I see any hearts in my post where did I say ♥♥♥♥

Im not making the game sound any worse than it really is
If players don't use Google don't read reviews don't read trendy's or steams forum they may actually believe you

were do you get fixed for 95% I would really like to read your source so please post it
from what I have read and experienced the last patch that supposedly fixed this did three things for players
fixed for some ,changed nothing for others , and created it for some
I myself had no problem before the "fix" patch

and I didn't dis you you dis yourself :p

Ohh yeah, sorry, I forgot people weight every single word.
Softspokenman Sep 7 @ 3:39pm
so no link to that 95% then? did you even read it all or do you just have nothing to dispute it with except unfounded statements with nothing to back them up
Ham the Terrible Sep 7 @ 8:33pm
DDE has about half of the content of DD1 and has a microtransaction shop and bad lag. Go read the reviews.

Now for all of you DDE fanboys who say they've fixed all of these problems. . . well. . .

You can play with crap all you want. Reshape it, add food coloring, etc. Poop is very malleable. But at the end of the day, it still smells bad.

Steam reviews are most likely junk due to low playtime. Players who think they know the game because they have played the game for 10 or even 20 hours are non-reliably, at least for me.

Why?
You have no idea how they have spent their time. Playing some campaigns, sitting around at the tavern (hub), or being afk during survival runs and you achieve that playtime easily. Achievements on the other hand are an indication of their overall knowledge. Sadly not displayed on Steam/Playverse yet but already in-game.

DDE is missing only 2 campaign maps and roundabout 10 challenges and there are reasonable hopes for them to come back. Far away from your 50%. Also DDE will be sold for 20 bucks meanwhile DD1 Complete Edition will be sold for 50 bucks unless you get it during a sale.

And this so often called 'micro-transaction shop' only provides things you never ever need to beat the game since the items are just cosmetics. Nobody forces you to purchase them nor you will have any advantage by purchasing them.

@softspokenman
Sorry I'm too lazy to count the single users who have replied in dat mentioned thread. It's obvious that only a minority experience the bug otherwise the mentioned thread would be much bigger ;) So no need to back up my statement, common sense :p
