Offline lan play on linux version.
I do not have an internet connection at home. My room mate and I would like to be able to play on our computers over a home LAN.

When I launch the game from Steam (offline mode) and load into the main game menu the online option is greyed out. My friend runs windows and was able to find a solution by loading the launcher and changing the online engine option from steam to gamespy.

The problem for me is that there is no launcher in the Linux versioin. There is one binary that I have found (DungeonDefenders-x86) and I believe it is the game itself, not the launcher. Even If it isthe launcher, I have been unable to get it to launch. I even tried to launch is in terminal but got an error about a missing library.

So next I tried messing with some of the .INI files. I tried to find an option in the .INI files that would change the online engine to gamespy in stead of steam. I found some options that looked promising but none of them helped. After an hour of playing with INI files I gave up.

Is there anything I can do to play on lan without being connected to the internet? Otherwise what is LAN play for?

There's always rebuying the DRM free version- it's not dependant on steam.

You always lose with closed source. Always.
