game wont start at all

im on windows 8 and i try starting the game nothing happens no new processes in the task manager. tried to run as admin and in compatibility mode and still nothing

Some startup fails can be fixed by using the switch -nosplash
Just create a shortcut to the exe file and right click on it > properties > target > add -nosplash to the end of the line and launch the program using the shortcut. Hope this helps.

i tried to add -nosplash at end of line but it says target box is invalid

mine is "B:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Carrier Command Gaea Mission\carrier.exe" then i add -nosplash to end to it and i get invalid target error
i tried

"B:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Carrier Command Gaea Mission\carrier.exe" -nosplash
same as your first one but with a space before the -

I'm also on Win 8 (x64) and I have the same problems as the threadstarter.
Try to start the game and nothing happens. I also tried various compatibility modes with and without "as administrator".
-nosplash didn't help eiter.

ok i reinstalled my game and now it works fine

I have the same problem here. I tried -nosplash and reinstalled either, but still the game doesnt start. not even a new process or anything else.

Are you running Win 8.1 N (or any other version that does not come with the Windows media apps such as Movie Player)? If so, download the Media Feature Pack for the N and KN versions of Windows. That solved it for me.

Same here, game should work fine, now the odd is that it worked before I reinstall my system, now when I try to play the game, game wont start at all, It clearly missing something. Tried everything, am using w7 here.

I found the reason on another post. on some win7 and win8 versions the mediaplayer isnt installed. so you have to download it and install it manually and the game will start.

i had this problem and i installed directX and the game worked again. hope this helps

Make sure you have the latest version of Windows Media Player installed. By Installing Windows Media Player v12 fixed game launch issues for me.
