Deadly Islands mod
Copying this here, as I don't think many people are aware of the Addons & Mods section...

I made a mod for Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. Its main purpose when I started out was to upgrade all enemy islands to deadly status to make the game more challenging, but it has grown several more features such as ability to enter timewarp manually at any point during the game. Many of the functions of the mod can easily be opted out of if you don't like them.
For a full listing of the mod's features, and to download the mod, click here:

http://www.species1571.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/carriercommand.htm

To find the location where you need to unzip the zip file to: go to the Library tab in your Steam client, right-click on Carrier Command: Gaea Mission, click properties, click the Local Files tab, then click Browse Local Files. This is the location where the deadlyislands folder should go.
You will need to have the latest beta version (1.07.0025). To ensure you have the latest beta, go to the Library tab in your Steam client, right-click on Carrier Command: Gaea Mission, click properties, then betas, then set the drop-down option to "Opt into beta version of the patch".
In order to make the mod load with the game, you also need to set the launch option in Steam. To do this, go to the Library tab in your Steam client, right-click on Carrier Command: Gaea Mission, click properties, then click Set Launch Options. In the box, enter the following text (including the -):
-mod deadlyislands

Updated to v1.20:
---Added options for FOV (field of view). The first option controls the normal FOV and can be set between the game's standard 60 degrees anywhere up to 120 degrees. The second option controls the maximum FOV. When your vehicle is moving, the field of view will gradually expand up to this value. When the vehicle slows, it will return to normal. Note: Either of these options can be disabled by setting them to 60. For weapons with zoom functions to work properly, it is essential that the zoom key in the customization menu matches that in the main options menu. For views that do not have a zoom function, the zoom key can be used to toggle the FOV on and off. This is useful for mantas when you may want to have a short period of close quarters combat with the standard field of view.
---All keys used for the mod's functions can now be individually set in the new Key Bindings page in the customization menu.
---Scout drone can now dock on autopilot by pressing the dock key. This replaces the auto dock method which was previously used (feature requested by faber42).
---Added new hotkey option for generating a quick auto-save. This function is similar to the F5 quick save, with the major difference that these saves are visible in the saved games list and are resumable after a crash, and so they offer protection from crashes that the normal quick saves do not.
---Added option for timed autosaves. This interval can be set to anything between 1 and 20 minutes.
---Added warnings for the carrier's fuel level.
---Added fix for a rare glitch in the game which causes units to fall out of the map and become trapped inside the island's terrain.
---Several minor improvements.

I have just updated the installation instructions with specific information for the Steam version.

This is a must-have mod in my opinion. It's really really good. Not sure if it works with the latest beta version .25 though. That wouldnt really matter for me though, as the latest beta, .25 crashes every time i try to load a game.

Big huge thanks Species 1571 for this wonderfull mod of yours! Two thumbs up :)

does your mod fix the sound?
Wartox Mar 3 @ 3:49am
Fix the sound as in...? How is it broken? All I know, is that sound is working just fine for me :)

@Species

Update: tried to launch the game with the this mod and it crashes every time.
I followed these instructions. Set Launch Options. In the box, enter the following text -mod deadlyislands. Also tried it with other mods and it does not work with beta 1.07.0023. Other mods will work without beta though.

There seems to be something different about the steam beta install and the BIS version.

Update: Just noticed the update to .0025, now we know why mods are broken.

Works for me.

I get the huge ♥♥♥ new menu, tho at the start of the campaign, islands are still puny for me.

Are you running the 17.25 beta though? It's new today and breaks mods.
Virosa Mar 3 @ 10:53am
Hmm indeed, game doesn't launch anymore.

Yes indeed, both steam and BIS versions are updated to .25.. My best guess is, that Species will update his mod as soon as he gets a chance to do so :)

Well I had a chance to play this mod on my BIS version, and it looks really good, so I guess now we wait.

Yeah, I hope asap...I found this diamond of mod yesterday and it is really an excellent improvement. Thank you Species for this masterpiece of work!

Thanks guys, I just got home and saw that an update has been posted and indeed it breaks the mod. I've looked at the changes and it's going to take me some time to roll them all into the mod and check how they affect it. I'm working back shift hours this week, so I don't have the same time I would normally. In the meantime, if you want to, you can opt out of the beta and go back to v1.15 of the mod, which is still available on the download page. You will lose a few later functions and your later save games won't work with the old version.
