how to shrink a troll ?

My warrior used shrink monster scroll on a troll but it didn't work. When he is farther away, the escroll doesn't work. But when he get closer to the troll, he got killed before the scroll has effect. Help ?

My solution was to summon some skeletons to attract the attention of the troll, then I could get closer to it to use the spell. Is it the right solution ?

I suppose it's a matter of timing. I don't remember the troll(s) in Gothic 1 very well, but in Gothic 2 you could shrink them from a safe distance. So don't get too close (which'll get you killed) but do get close enough for the scroll to take effect. A few tries after save & load will do it, just keep at it

I tried several times and failed since the troll ran up to me after 2 quick swings I was dead.

If the troll notices you and kills you, I'd take the advice in that thread: have Diego 'tank' the troll and while he has aggro you can cast the spell without interruptions.

It is the troll in the umululu mission. So there is no Diego.

Ah ok, I simply read the forum thread you posted a link to. Back to my first reply then: find the perfect distance and timing. Or come back when you're strong enough to just kill the troll. When you get behind a troll, he'll turn around to face you but he's quite slow so that gives you a couple of extra seconds. You can even cheap-kill a troll with this tactic, just keep running in circles around him and he will not be able to do anything because he'll just keep turning around trying to face you in order to attack you.
