We need 25,000 commited people on the Nexus 2: The Gods Awaken Facebook page.

Once we have that, they can restart their Kickstarter campaign. Not until then, i don't think, will have enough committed public funds.

maybe they must try Indiegogo instead? I'm not sure, but if they will fail indiegogo campaign also, they still can get some money

If only I were rich, I'd give them the funds they need. Nexus deserves a sequel.

I'm sure a few here share that sentiment. I'm one of them too. If I ever won the lottery or the like I'd certainly be interested in funding the game.

But how are we going to get the word out? A great deal of this generation's gamers have never heard of old space-based RTS games like the Imperium Galactica series, or the Homeworld series, etc. And real time tactical fleet command (a sub-genre which, to my knowledge, Nexus: TJI pioneered) is even harder for modern gamers to get used to than COD-style twitch fests.

Truer words were never spoken, I still regard it as one of the best games i've ever played. The storyline and voice acting were top notch. A shame it missed its target, I hope theres still a market for this sortof thing, but honestly feel that the indie scene are the only ones that can bring this genre back from the dead now.

Check out this indie variant for example http://shallow-space.com

Where did you see this? I looked over the Facebook group but didn't see anything about needing 25,000 people.

@Xanker

25,000 (people) x $25 (dollar donation/pledge/pre-order) = $625,000 dollars necessary to complete crowdfunding efforts to make the game on Unreal Engine 4.

This groups was originally intended to support the crowdfunding project that we did for Nexus 2. Unfortunately the project wasn't funded, so we had to let it go for now. To be honest I don't think that there will be a Nexus 2 any time soon, if ever. There are several reasons for this and I don't want to go into detail now, but it just doesn't look good. Only an angel investor that brings in all the money at once would have some chance of success.
In the meantime this group has turned into a meeting place for people that enjoy sci-fi games in general. Which is a perfectly fine development if you ask me. Let this group be just that and let it be Nexus that binds us and brought us together in the first place.
I hope you all continue to contribute and keep this one alive! We get new members almost every day! Cheers!

So there will be no Nexus 2 in near future unless....

Personally, I think they'd have got that money if they'd have thought out their kickstarter campaign a little better and knocked together a prototype. To put it bluntly, two blokes chatting over a desk didn't get me excited and scenes from Nexus will flash before my eyes when I die.

Anyways, woulda, shoulda, coulda - it's up to the indie devs now to rescue this genre from the muck.... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=243105471

@Mawhrin-Skel, in first, i was very sceptical about Shallow Space...feared of low-budget sci fi game alike Ancient Space, in what Shallow Space can turn.
but Shallow Space getting nicer and nicer =)

but to be honest, game feels more like Homeworld than Nexus. However, I can be wrong, cuz i judge by videos.
When we can "touch" the game? ETA for early access or anything like this?:beatmeat:

as for Nexus 2
, sadly, that Most Wanted(devs) did not tried to make a deal with publishers like IceBerg Interactive or Paradox. (especially like IceBerg, since they have a "feel" to the space games)

Hey, that's the latest progress video btw. It does look a bit Homeworldy at the moment granted, but we're about to reveal a bit of a twist in that players will be able to control fleets around a SoaSE type planetary setup. What you've seen in the vids is basically 'an instance of combat' which happens when the representing ships on the planetary setup encounter each other (or there may be other triggers) there's a whole other half of the game to come yet.

This thing is still under heavy development, it will hit Early Access end of Q2, start of Q3. Need cash for models and skills and a little bit more exposure so we're working on a Kickstarter for end of feb. You should check out Deep Space Settlement they are further ahead in the process than me and also checkout Flagship, because it's cool.

Sign up to the newsletter also ;) http://shallow-space.com/newsletter/

Thanks!

I am here too support Nexus: The Jupiter Incident to the higher power of 2. I still havent even finished a full play through of 1 because I enjoy the scenarios I have been presented with so far. The situations are so intriguing, and can be played in multiple different strategies. I find closure when i finally finish a game because i experience every crevase of each level. Call me a profectionist and that is the type of games i like to play

When someone sais Nexus i think of Skyrim and Fallout because i use that mod manager alot. I love the name but its gone. Get a new one with from inspiration through your most influencial supply.

Very sad indeed the kickstarter attempts for nexus 2 didnt succeed, i would love to get to know more about the other races in the form of their own campaigns, they have managed to create such an interesting universe its unfortunate we probably wont be able to delve deeper into it.
