Carrying over experienced troops?
I loved Theatre of War and Theatre of War II, especially the ability to build up veterancy with my troops - being able to use the same troops from battle to battle as they gain experience and skill. When I first saw the campaign mode of Theatre of War III, I loved the setup - the campaign looked like a lot of battles with three different army corps.
As I started playing, as expected, I had very green, inexperienced troops to start off. I played each of the three Corps in Turn 1, won each battle, then distributed experience to my troops.
At Turn 2, I expected to be able to use the experienced troops from each Corps in the next battles, but instead, those troops were gone, and I was left with the remaining green troops. I was frustrated, but played three more battles with less experienced troops than the first three battles. It was harder (because I chose the best troops for my first turn battles), but I won these three battles, and redistributed the experience to the troops again.
At Turn 3, I made my moves, then started the first battle with one of my Corps, hoping to have SOME of my experienced troops available, but they were all gone, and I was left with the worst of the worst, and in some cases, I didn't even have equipment available to me that could have been allotted to the battle (helicopters were all gone). I had drivers and gunners who could barely perform their tasks. Telling a tank to go from point A to B was nearly impossible because of the inept drivers and shooting anything more than 50m away was hopeless.
Does anyone know what happens to your experienced troops and how to be able to get them back and to play them again? Not only is it getting VERY difficult to play the campaign with inexperienced troops, but at this rate, I'll be out of men by the next Turn.
