pink squares

hi all, in lieu of there being any kind of help material in game, what do I do when I hit the pink square? thnaks.

Pink squares are identified at the beginning of a level (1-4 or 1-5). You simply press the UP arrow (on a keyboard or some equivalent on a controller) and it triggers a 3 note sound and propells you to great leaps to jump canyons. You can push it in advance so you'll naturally go up to it and bounce off of it; no need to press exactly on it.
