Is this game not udpated anymore?

I downloaded and played for a bit. I noticed the news on the launcher and the last patch notes were from at least a year ago. Is this game abandoned?

The game has been entirely abandoned. I'm familiar with the developers and they have completly given up on the game, mostly because they're not getting enough money from it.

They've put their efforts into a newer game[www.deadislandepidemic.com], similar as any MOBA game but with a Dead Island theme, as they managed to get cooperative licence for it.
