Is steam version exactly 100% the same as the disc version

Yes it is exactly the same. It is known to have difficulty running on some 64 bit systems though. Cyan fairly recently released an updated version of it called realMyst Masterpiece Edition, that has updated graphics, you may want to take a look at;

Then why is this game even in the Steam store? If the game has all those issues it should be removed. This is inexcusable.

Yes! they should put a message in the game description telling people it wont work for some computers

It should be fine for xp and vista, Windows 7 is not officially supported though.

That's fantastic for those who still run 10 year old hardware. But most people have Windows 7 or 8 now. The game should be removed from the store until that is fixed. It is completely unforgivable to list a game on the store that does not even work for the majority of Steam players. People expect games to work when they buy them, this is false advertising. There are excuses, no matter how old the game is.

This is like asking an Android phone user to downgrade to Eclair in order to use an app, that just doesn't work in 2014.
