Is it true that I will get a Voltar Skin after buying this?

I've been playing Awesomenauts the last two weeks or so, and I really like Voltar. I checked his skins and didn't like the Disco one at all which is purchasable, so I clicked on the Necro Voltar skin to see the details, and redirected me on Ronimo's page which says exactly:
"If you own the Steam version of Swords & Soldiers, Ronimo’s Award-winning debut 2D side-scrolling strategy game, you will receive the Necro Voltar skin in Awesomenauts for FREE"
Does this mean that I'll get the skin as soon as I buy the game, or I had to own this game first, and the skin would be for free if I bought the game afterwards?

I just got it too along with another ton of skins :) I also got the SUSI announcer.
