Extremely low FPS, with all settings on low
I installed the game this past weekend, and no matter the settings I selected, I always ended up with very low FPS on the benchmark tool (between 5-10).

My PC is showing its age, but I played the demo without any big issues, so I really don't understand why am I getting such terrible performance, even if I downgrade and disable everything in the settings menu.

I'm using:
Vista 64-bit
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @2.40GHz
GeForce GTX 460 1GB
4 GB RAM

Did anyone experience any similar issues? Any suggestions on how I may improve my performance (except buying a new PC :D)?

Upgrade your OS to Windows 7.

More memory..........and get rid of Vista, Vista requires at least 2 gigs, so you are left with less than 2 to use

What kind of mainboard and hard drive are you using? And how many Watts is your power supply?
And you really need to get rid of Vista; that OS really sucks

do you have supersampling on if so turn it off this will sort the problem

I think its your OS it should be no problem changing Windows 7 as Vista and some XP programs are compatible with Windows 7 so you should definitely take that into account and I would suggest getting a little more RAM like 8 gigs would do the trick hope this helps.

Ok, your computer is almost like mine, except I have the smaller 460 (the 768 mb model) and I have Win 7 64 bit. This game can be almost maxed (minus supersampeling and since one of the updates that borked it compute shaders) So I would have to agree that the OS is whats killing you.

Vista bleh. I played the demo with stuff set to med/low on a worse pc, and it was ok.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

I'll try to upgrade to Win 7. I've been having a number of weird system hang-ups and slowdowns (outside of games), so it seems it's time to change my OS... :)

What's weird is that I played the demo just fine, on this very same system setup, but the full game is pretty much a no-go.

Full game utilizes options that I think were at least disabled in the demo. IIRC the demo was from a slightly earlier build.

Hi
With such a low spec older nmachine you'd be best to upgrade the system not the os.

Stop and look at the mainboards with ob graphics like any OB 4000HD graphics is more powerful than your current card? and they are reasonably priced at less than 100 dollars or equivelent.

8 to 16 gb of ram is @ pocket money pricing these days and a core i5 sandy bridge cpu is still a powerful quad core for a couple of hundred bucks. You can reuse your drives maybe case with a better psu .

So for about 350 US you'd have a modern current spec system later you can buy a better graphics card if needed, I realise for some students, kids etc 350 may be a bit of a save, but at the end of the day anyone that can buy legal games, pay for decent internet can afford to game can afford a decent system.

I have a really good system and the same problem. Everything on low, gaming laptop I use, I only unchecked that little thing in the Video settings in game : Use Compute Shaders.
It totally fixed the lag for me in FPS.

I just bought the game after playing the demo. Luckily i've got 3 580's because this game really uses all GPU you have (if you want it to look really nice then ;) ... I found out it almost don't touch the cpu, played with settings and all seems to utilize the gpu(s). This is also showing on the GPU utilization... Few SLI games MAXES all GPU's (again if you amp up the gfx) so definately no CPU bottleneck.

Now to your question regarding demo/the REAL thing; The demo is (quite obviously) either put out there without a lot of graphic enhancements or it is (most likely) from the games launch. A lot of patches and improvemets have been made that is not in the demo. The game has ULTRA settings which i can't recall the demo had. The final also has supersampling (if i use supersampling even my 3x580's can't get constant 60FPS and give me stuttering in cutscenes. What i did, which made the game almost like supersampled was:
- No SS
- Ingame AA HIGH
- Turn on FXAA in Nvidia Controlpanel
- Again ULTRA/HIGH on everything else

This gave me about 50-60% GPU util, 60 FPS (on all three cards). Almost half the cost and i liked the FXAA effect because the ingame AA is (probably) MSAA and don't cut it alone (combines very well with FXAA then)
Oh yeah I have a 2560x1440 display so with 1080p you'll ofc get better performance but aliasing will show more (again FXAA is great! and don't cost more than a couple of frames per second.)

So if you CAN play the demo on low, the actual game MAY be too much.
BUT.. your GPU (460) should play this game on quite high detail. And remember to use updated drivers for your card, use beta driver on geforce.com 310.61. (Quite long time since last WHQL driver...) Also remember to create a game profile in nvidia control panel (a separate profile for ALL your games).

I'm running the game in Windows 8, so I don't know if 7 is better... But at present day Windows 7 is supposed to be the best platform for playing games troublefree! (again NEWEST driver release on videocard, soundcard, intel ahci driver etc etc.

A good place to go check your drivers is on www.intel.com - "support" - "software downloads and drivers" then click on "Intel® Driver Update Utility" and answer yes a couple of times you should get a small list of the most important drivers and if they are up to date!
