Ok, What Next?
I'm trying to do all the single player as, 'Sniper Elite' and have run into a problem that I didn't have in the, 'Marksman' stage of the game.

I'm on the Opernplatz map and have supposedly secured the Plaza. Now I have nothing to do but run all over the place. The next objective diamond is not showing up for me to rescue that dude and make sure he makes it to the Library. I have redone this map, 7x's this morning and afternoon to no avail. I'm stuck at a stand still and cannot set my next checkpoint. All the AI & Snipers are dead, traps set everywhere, all ammo caches are empty now and Idk what to do?

Help,

Pred....

Check your game cache files. This issue could be related to the game not having the proper mission files on your computer.
Also check your game is up to date. It should be working.

I wouldn't know what it awas even if I were to check or, where it's located. I also can't see why my game wouldn't be up to date?

If you ran the map by the script, there shouldn't be any problem, but if you ran the map in a different way, things like that can happen. So, how did you play the map? Did you blow up alot of things and AI?

I killed the 4-6 enemy from the start, went through the alley into the back of the plaza and secured the building by killing all in it or, all who approached it. Cleared the courtyard, killed all the snipers at that point, set my traps at the library, proceeded up stairs to stop the execution, got to that point and now, I can't continue to save that scientist dude. Idk know what I did or, didn't do for that to happen. Had np at all in SP/Marksman. I'm trying to finish it in Sniper Elite. I've used no 'Custom' set up.

Did you got objective completed when clearing the courtyard ?
And checking cache files :
1 : Get into your Steam Games Library
2 : Right-click on Sniper Elite V2 and click on Properties
3 : Check all the tabs in there, when opening a specific one you'll be able to click on ''verify cache files).
4 : You wait for finishing checking, and you got it.

I know from my own experience that when I don't run a map/mission by the script, the triggers will not be activated properly. I noticed that in almost every map (also in Saint Pierre) when I blow up vehicles and AI which are not intended to be killed before other things are done first.
In more "open" games it doesn't matter which trigger you activate first as long as you end the mission or the script. It seems that this game needs to be run by the script in order to finish a map properly.
The designers and builders of most modern games don't want the player to think too much for himself. They push and force people to think like a herd. They don't want to create strong self thinking individuals and neither does the government. What they need is a controllable herd, so games may not be designed anymore to awaken the strong self thinking individual in a player.
Result is that the player doesn't decide how to play the game.... the designer decides.

@Eagle, everything is validated so, I guess I try again, from the start now.

@ Rico,
I agree about not being allowed to think for yourself anymore and many games are set to be that way.

Thanks for the help, I hope it works right for me now. I'm get bored with this sort of repitition in a game, not allowing me to advance. That very reason is what makes me quit playing a game altogether.
Rico Feb 17, 2013 @ 5:16am
Predator, I can totally understand your way of thinking but quit gaming shouldn't be an option.
By quitting you more or less let game builders think for you, which I'm sure you really don't want.
I'm just another old gamer who's having fun with a bunch of people who pretty much think the same. We see the problems and flaws in games; we look at them and we just let them for what they are. Our priority is having fun together... so most of the time we joke and laugh alot during multiplay. If you take a look at my screen shots and some of my vids, you'll notice that we don't take the game so serious. Don't get me wrong..., we can play very serious if necessary, but without any jokes or laughs the sessions are boring.
In short... never allow a thought or an emotion get to you..., just relax and try to have fun in your life... even with games :)

I'm having this problem too, and playing on Cadet (as I've only just started) and with a crummy mouse this is still hard, so this is SO frustrating. I start out by killing the three gurads down the end of the street during shelling, then head down the alley. enter building and first objective met, second one then never shows. How could that not be an obvious way foward? Alternative approach?
HunterKiller Jun 8, 2013 @ 7:21am
After you kill the lone guard, you have to aporach the lobby desk in order to trigger the next phase. Then, once you've secured that building, your next objective will appear. I figured out how I done it wrong and was missing the waypoint, I sat at the back door of that one building and threw rocks until all the guards came running to me muttering, 'What's that?' When I killed them all, my next waypoint just said, 'screw you, you didn't do it right.' LOL.

That trigger for the waypoint is actually out in front of that building in the street but, it has a distance medium that will trigger it also. So, when entering the back of the building, you have to proceeed forward enough, to trigger it.

Thanks. I did finally manage it (by not leaving the building once in, which seemed to be the key) only to get no yellow marker after killing the Russians! I even vwalked all around the trucks but no one was around and had to restart that level again too. Sigh.
HunterKiller Jun 10, 2013 @ 6:46am
This concerns stopping the execution of whathisface? I had this problem a while back and to this day, I can't remember how I fixed it, or if, it fixed itself?

Did you kill all Snipers? Once you leave the building, and walk out the double front doors, head to the truck and there should be some Snipers that will start shooting at you, you got to kill them and then, head right to the front of the Library. Two more Snipers will try to kill you and go from there.

I had to replay teh scene. I had killed everyone as I could walk anywhere without being shot. I can only think some Russian soldier wandered off into cyber space where I couldn't shot him but he wasn't dead... Second time around it was OK

There are 3 snipers around the square. One sniper is on top of the building to the left, get him from behind the truck, the other two are,one on the second floor of the library, the other, sometimes on the first floor ,sometimes on the second floor,of the building at the end of the square. The library sniper usually shows up when the sniper at the end building is firing at you,so you have to be careful.Just watch out if the sniper in the end building is on the second floor. Sometimes after he fires 2 or 3 shots he parks himself between two windows and randomly shoots. When he does that, the only way to kill him is to throw grenades thru the windows until you kill him. then you can enter the building to complete the save the scientist part of the mission.
