My graphics card appears to have failed, get similar squares across screen, colours moving across screen, PC shuts down. MSI N570GTX twin frozer3 power edition, had it one and half years, no heavy loading. I was thinking of upgrading to ATI, but not sure, now! What cards do other V2 gamers recommend? (Z68XP-UD3,i7-2700K,4 cores)

im running a 3ghz 7970 and its maxed out everything so far including crysis 3,never had a stutter on any game except Stalker call of prypiat(complete mod) but even then barely noticable.
i would always buy amd cards

Yes I'm looking at radeon R9 290(X). Does anyone have experience with MSI? I'd like them to test my old card, to see why it failed!!

Ok, I fixed it, it seems that this game has a problem with AMD Overdrive

Actually no matter how well or poorly the card is made sooner or later it is going to fail. How long that takes depends on the type of use the card sees. The dmeand placed on it from both a graphical stand point and the amount of time it runs. The more demand a card sees the shorter its life span will be.Under very demanding condtions even a very well made card you can expect it to last about 2 or 3 years.I have gone through 3 GPUs since 2008 though honestly it really two as the second was a refurb (cheaper in cost but also almost always has a short life span).I play games alot so my cards see hundreds of hours under load and so far I feel I have gotten my monies worth from my GPUs.

I have a freind who overcloks and runs a veyr high end rig and he also spends a huge amount of time playing and for him a card last about a year to a year and a half.again though his cards see a ton of heavy use.A person who plays less ofetn sya only a few hours a week they could expect to see a GPU last 5 or 6 years.

Obviusly a poorly made card will be much more likely to fail prematurely. Persoanlly I like EVGA cards they sell upgraded Nvida cards and I have never been displeased with thier service. They also have a very good warranty 3 years long I belive which is nice as most card manfactures only offer a 90 day warranty.

All thigns considered the major makers (AMD and Nvdia) are about equal in quality. You like AMD and have had no troubles with them thus far so I would say keep using thier products.

Here is an article that pretty well explains it.
