Portal 2 Black Screen

Hello and I'm geting a black screen whenever I load a level it freezes turns black. It's says it's got to do with graphic acceleration failing however, the first time I played the game,it worked and I could play all the levels if I wanted to. I am able to run other source games. I have reinstalled the game, quit steam and reopened it, Disabled steam community, run the game in it's lowest settings,uninstalled and reinstalled steam and even update my drivers.

I am currently using Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express chipset family. Pretty suckish I know but it's built into the motherboard.

I can run other source games and I was able to get portal running first time round.

Help would be greatly appreciated

I'm getting something like this, too. I was going to try playing one of the community test chambers and all I got was a black screen with the mouse pointer. hitting the esc. key didn't do anything, so I had to quit by using a keyboard command. Then I tried restarting my computer, but got the same result. So next I tried going back to the original single-player game and not only did I get the same result, but furthermore, I had to start all over from the beginning of the story, even though I've previously completed the entire single-player game and the cooperative game, and still have the achievements to prove it.

I am using a 27" iMac running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) with the 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 20 GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, and an AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB graphics card. (I can't currently test out whether or not this problem also happens on my PC (which runs on the same machine in Boot Camp), since I'm waiting till my parents get me Windows 8 for Christmas.)

I have the same problem, same graphics card, i had played the game and now i can´t, have you solved it Thundershock? I tried several ways but get no clue, only one thing, every time it crashed, my notebook restarts but when i put it in screen mode i noticed that says screen controler has crashed, and the only rare thing that it´s happening to me is that when i verify the cache of the game it finds one problem then download that archive and its ok, when i try to play same thing happen, and once again the same cache problem, i hope you can find a solution for us, if i have news i let you know, good luck!

Finally it works again, i had to delete both, portal and steam, and install them again, and it works, i´m playing now, i hope it works to you too, good luck

I tried deleting Steam and Portal 2, then reinstalling, but it didn't work. :(

ok uninstalled and reinstalled steam and installed portal 2 and it worked,then I quit the game and it happened again...
