Looks like the just patched in split-screen
Just downloaded the latest patch, and was hoping it was for local multiplayer. So I go to the co-op menu and see the message "Offline Splitscreen: Press X on Controller 2." Unfortunately, I only have 1 Xbox controller, the first quadrant is lit up, and is recognized as controller 1. So I'm guessing they expect us to play with two controllers and won't give us the option to play with kbam along with a gamepad?

Hi, Moskeeto. It's possible to play with keyboard/mouse and a controller, but you'll need 2 controllers to activate splitscreen mode. Without making significant changes to how controllers are detected in Portal 2, this was the most straight-forward way to add support for this. The intended use is for Big Picture, but if there's significant demand for single controller splitscreen we'll add it in a later update.

Thanks for the quick response! I do plan on buying another controller in the future, but I would prefer to use my mouse and keyboard. I look forward to a future update!

I tried the same and I would like to do what Moskeeto is trying as well: me with keyboard/mouse, and my brother with an xbox controller. Looking forward to that update too, as I only got one controller...

Would be nice to have. Would also be nice to have splitscreen in Left 4 Dead.

This! I had family over for the weekend, and it would have been nice to play Portal 2 and L4D2 split-screen. Instead, we played Serious Sam 3, because that game properly supports it. Every PC dev should look to SS3 as the standard they should meet for split-screen.

Oh man, that would be awesome. I only have 1 controller (no need for 2nd), and I would love to play splitscreen on my lcd. Splitscreen for Big Picture is a great feature though - I am happy with this as well. TY :)
