[Mac]Portal 2 crashes while loading.
I already validated the game files and the problem still occurs.

Game loads fine up through the main menu. When I try to start a new single player game it starts to load and the blue dots on the bottom fill up. When I get to 8 dots the game crashes.

Mac meet the minimum specifications in terms of hardware?

Playing on OSX? Or Windows via Bootcamp?

If you get the game crashing on you during load screen it could be a number of things. Need more details...

As a general rule, I always recommend people play games via Bootcamp. Much faster. OSX doesn't handle complex 3D games too well really. I mean it can, but not to the same degree Windows can.

I have played this game on two different Macbook Pro's. Tried both OSX and Windows. Performance always way better on Windows.

im having the same problem as well, it seems that with the last update to the authoring tools for the game caused this problem. a patch needs to be put in for so that the game can be enjoyed by the people who bought the game.

Same here. I bought this Macbook Pro in 2011, played Portal 2 for 25 hours, and finished the game. I just tried playing it today and went to single player mode -- it starts loading and then crashes. Runing Mac OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)

Update: I uninstalled Steam, deleted all data and reinstalled. Rebooted my Mac and reinstalled Portal 2. It's working now. The only thing that I can figure is that when I upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8) back in July it messed up my install. But, it's working again for me.

gays me help re install steam and game (delete game all files in c:\program files\steam\...\portal 2) game not crashing in start! (problem resolved)

I deleted Portal 2 and reinstalled and still crashing my 10.8 Mac. So, I have to delete Steam and all my games and data!?! Then reinstall everything again for Portal 2? C'mon and patch this problem Steam.
