what you really have to set is >-w [WIDTH] -h [HIGHT]<
to define your screen resolution
([WIDTH] = your screen width) ([HEIGHT] = your screen height) (without the < > [] " " )
On my Windows 7 desktop I right-click, then click "Screen Resolution" and see that it is set at 1366x768.
Next, I go to my Steam Library, right-click on Portal 2, then select "Properties" at the bottom of the menu. From that I select "Set Launch Options..." and enter
"-w 1366 -h 768"
without the quotes.
If I had seen that my desktop screen resolution was set at 1280x960, I would have entered
"-w 1280 -h 960".
