My very first Portal 2 Crash
Hey all,

So I got this weird crash today that I wanted to share with you guys and see what the cause could be. Last week I was working on my first custom map that I was making and saved it. Today I wanted to continue editing this map. I selected my saved test chamber (in Community Test Chambers -> Create Test Chamber) and clicked the Edit button. However, after the loading screen Portal 2 immediately crashed and threw me to the Desktop without any error message.

I verified my files and it didn't find any problems. I did notice a crashdump file in the Portal 2 directory but opening this in notepad would give me these weird symbols. I can't find a way to upload this file on here. There is no errorlog file in the directory where my custom map is saved.

Anyone else experienced this? Is this a known problem and will there be a fix for it?

My specs:
Windows 8 Pro 64bit
GTX 660 Ti (driver version 314.07)
CPU 3570K

Thanks in advance,

Random Portal 2 crashes happen to everyone, sometimes without an error message. I wouldn't worry too much.

Ericrct: Well, for me the crash always occurs when I play the game in a particular way that I just found out now. The association with the crash is also very random so I have no idea how this could cause it :S

It seems that the crash while loading my custom map only occurs when I have first played the first part of Chapter 1 before it, until Wheatley has finished destroying the Docking station. Quitting the chapter after that without saving and then go loading my custom map provokes the crash.

Anyone else who can provoke the crash this way?

Could you try typing the symbols up?
