Co-op Freezing on loading screen

Me and my friend want to play and everytime we connect to each other we get to the loading screen where it says "your partner in science" and then the game freezes for the person connecting. any help?

Im having the same issue, and nobody in the forums seems to know why, and portal/steam support has ignored two emails of mine. Maybe if we send enough emails they will care

I've figured it out. idk the cause, but for me i would get farther everytime we tried loading together and eventually we got to where we could play and it stopped doing it after a couple of test rooms.
