Black Screen Issue

Greetings and merry christmas to everyone!
I just bought Portal 2 yesterday and today i finished downloading it, but there is a rather small issue: when in-game, I can hear all the sounds clearly and see the crosshair but there isn't anything else but a black screen. The menu and settings work well, no crashes.

P.S.: I validaded the Steam cache files...nothing.

The minimum requierments... Yes. But the normal requierments no. I solved the problem with the magical command known as 'mat_postprocess_enable 0'. My graphics cards don't have a pixel shader and that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it all up.

I may not ask how you did that, 'cause I really do not know what you mean and how I can do this. But you seem to have solved the problem so could you may explain it to me further how you did the trick as I face the same problem.

It is really easy:
1.Enable console in the options then press the '`' key (the one over the Tab key)
2.Type in the console: mat_postprocess_enable 0
3.???
4.PROFIT!!!!

This problem is common to computers with a graphics card that has no pixel shader (that is why I cannot play Assasins Creed).If you want this problem to be gone forever get a new computer or change the graphics card.
