ok so this is exaclty what happens and what i have done

what happens: i open portal 2, runs fine through the vaulve screen then it gets to the first portal 2 loading screen and crashes my computer, and forces me to restart

what i have done: i have re downloaded the entire game twice, validated atleast 50 times, and every time i validate there is one file that is corrupted, so it redownloads it and installs it, i open it back up, another crash

if u have a fix for it PLZ PLZ PLZ give it to me or help me with it, this is the exact game i would love to play for hours. but i cant, and while im at it, if this gets fixed. anyone wanna be a partner in co-op

omfg, THEY MEET IT, everybody asks that and nobody realizes that people dont get a game they cant play.

What do you mean by "Crashes my computer"? Do you have a BSOD? What OS?

well when it reboots, i look at what happend and it does say BSOD, but when it crashed i didnt see the blue screen, and windows 7

What's the error message? Did it say ANYTHING about portal2.exe? Was it a driver? Can you copy-paste the error details?

no it dosent show any details, it jsut shows up as "unexpected crash/shutdown" if uwant i can do it again and see if there is anything i can find that i didnt see

ok well i did it one more time to see if there was anything i missed and here is what i seen:

BSOD: all i could see out of it was it did a memory dump, nad is shut down to prevent the system from crashing

when i got my comp. running, i copied what windows was telling me what happened:

any luck? That rotating corrupt file sounds odd. Sounds like its writing to that file when you go to play - a crash happens interrupting the write - and corrupts it. This is going to sound infuriating if you've already done the obvious but:

-update all system drivers, especially your graphics card
-double check your other games arent doing the same
-shut down any TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) programs you have running that arent necessary. Even temporarily disable your antivirus. It may be flagging a file as naughty and throwing it into lockdown which provides you with a nice blue screen.

alright, will do, ill probably have all that tested and done in an hour. so ill report back

ok well i made sure my drivers were updated, (ill try rolling them back) and while i was offline, i disabled my anti-virus and turned off my firewall to see if that would fix anything. with the anti virus disabled i got past the first loading screen, but then the second one shutdown my comp. could i just be gatting a corrupt file, and could i maually put another file inplace of that one that isnt corrupted?

you could try it - get the filename, scan your PC for other games which use the same file (oftencase) and replace it or even google it.
Have you had this trouble with any other game recently?

nope, tf2 keeps validating everynow and then, but no corrupted files at all

well i looked around and i couldent find a direct way of updating the c++ but everything else is done, and i tried updating my BIOS, but it dosent show any drivers that are not up to date. so i think that i just got a bad copy or something
