GAME "DISAPPEARED"?!?!?
I had Portal 2 on my PC for about 8 months now. I bought a product code off of eBay and downloaded the game from Steam. Never had any issues. I stopped playing about 4 months ago, then yesterday I wanted to play again. I open Steam and Portal 2 is NOT in my library. But I still have the shortcut to the game on my desktop, and all the game files in my hard drive. What do I do? Since the game is on sale, I don't mind paying $5, but I just to know what the heck happened? I didn't uninstall anything on my computer, nothing out of the ordinary happened to it, so I'm totally lost. PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I don't have the product code anymore and have no way to retrieve it

I suggest that you contact steam support about this issue. What might have happened is the original owner of the code created a steam account and linked it with his PS3, which 're-gave' it to him realising that he owned the PS3 copy the code is linked with. (I don't know if that can actually happen but I don't see many other possibilities.)

Also, have you attempted to visit the games store page and check if it says "You already own this game, PLAY NOW" Where play now would link you to the installation/game library.

"I bought a product code off of eBay"
thats your problem

contact the seller and demand a new code or a refund
portal 2 is on sale for $5 on steam

Like I said, I bought it 8 months ago, and eBay purchase history only goes back 60 days. My email also deletes everything older than 3 months unless I save it, so I don't have an email receipt.

I also don't think it's necesarily because I might have bought it from someone "untrustworthy". The game worked beautifully for these past 8 months. I think it's something wrong with my computer or my account, not his fault.

and @Firask I will contact Steam support, see if they can do anything. Otherwise I'll buy the game again while it's still $5
