Keyboard/Controller co-op?
Someone has probably already asked this, but is there a way to play the new split-screen co-op (on PC) with one player using the keyboard and one using a (single) 360 controller? I tried it with one controller, but pressing X on the co-op screen doesn't seem to work...

I'd like to know this as well.

All very well, but you shouldn't have to faff around with the console, you should just be able to automatically play with one player on controller and the other on keyboard/mouse. It sort of works if you plug two controllers in, but then the ping tool and emote menu's don't behave properly...

I might try the hack and report back, but it just seems like a glaring oversight...

The work to be done can be frightening at first (not for me though, I came from Linux-lands to play games, there are tons of terminal stuff to do there, so I'm used to it :D), but you only need to do the majority once, and you can really just later fire and forget.
I'll add my experiences to that thread over there to clear up some things, because everything can be solved (even playing coop workshop maps, I figured that out yesterday night!), though information is scared around, you need to put them all together.

Simple, if have a working controller (i.e. you go into controller settings in main menu and click 'enable controller') then you should be able to move the main menu selection around with your keyboard and controller.

Then all you need to do is open up the console '~' key and type: >joy_remap_player_for_controller1 2
>hit enter
>go to co op screen and press x on the controller (Square on PS3 controller)
and you will go into co-op.

all joy_remap_player_for_controller1 2 does is remap the controller number from player 1 to player 2 :masoneagle:
where is the console key?

I don't know if i'm doing something wrong, but even after typing the console command joy_remap_player_for_controller1 2, i press X on the controller and it goes online searching for friends. (i have Logitech F310 controller). Tryed d/lding joyids and change to ctroller 2, same thing. There is no way i can strat a split screen game! Did i forgot something?

THERE IS A WAY MUCH EASIER, I JUST THANKED THE GUY WHO SAVED MY LIFE AT THIS POINT I'VE SPENT 3 HOURS TRYING TO PLAY CO-OP KEYBOARD AND XBOX360 CONTROLLER. CREATE A TEXT FILE UNDER
steam/steamapps/common/portal2/portal2/cfg folder AND PASTE THIS INFO:

cmd2 joy_name "Xbox360 controller"

cmd2 joy_advanced 1
cmd2 joy_advaxisx 3
cmd2 joy_advaxisy 1
cmd2 joy_advaxisz 0
cmd2 joy_advaxisr 2
cmd2 joy_advaxisu 4
cmd2 joy_advaxisv 0

cmd2 joy_forwardsensitivity -1
cmd2 joy_sidesensitivity 1
cmd2 joy_pitchsensitivity 0.75
cmd2 joy_pitchsensitivity_default 0.75
cmd2 joy_yawsensitivity -1.5
cmd2 joy_yawsensitivity_default -1.5
cmd2 joy_autoaimdampenrange 0.85
cmd2 joy_autoaimdampen 0.5
cmd2 joy_lowend 0.75
cmd2 joy_lowmap 0.25
cmd2 joy_no_accel_scale 1
cmd2 joy_accelscale 2.0
cmd2 joy_accelmax 1.0
cmd2 joy_response_move 5
cmd2 joy_response_look 1
cmd2 joyadvancedupdate
cmd2 crosshair 1
cmd2 hud_draw_fixed_reticle 1

cmd2 bind "JOY1" "+jump" // (A) Button
cmd2 bind "JOY2" "+duck" // (B) Button
cmd2 bind "JOY3" "+use" // (X) Button
cmd2 bind "JOY4" "+remote_view" // (Y) Button
cmd2 bind "JOY5" "+quick_ping" // Left Bumper
cmd2 bind "JOY6" "+zoom" // Right Bumper
cmd2 unbind "JOY7" //"+mouse_menu_taunt" // Back ("select") Button
cmd2 bind "JOY8" "gameui_activate" // Start Button
cmd2 unbind "JOY9" //"+quick_ping" // Left Stick In
cmd2 unbind "JOY10" //"+zoom" // Right Stick In
cmd2 unbind "JOY11"
cmd2 unbind "JOY12"

cmd2 bind "Z AXIS POS" "+attack2" // Left Trigger
cmd2 bind "Z AXIS NEG" "+attack" // Right Trigger

cmd2 bind "POV_UP" "+mouse_menu_taunt" // D-Pad
cmd2 bind "POV_LEFT" "+mouse_menu" // D-Pad
cmd2 unbind "POV_RIGHT" //"+mouse_menu" // D-Pad
cmd2 unbind "POV_DOWN" //"+mouse_menu_taunt" // D-Pad

cmd2 joystick 1
cmd2 sk_autoaim_mode 2
cmd2 +jlook

now save it with the name: joy_coop.360.cfg (without the txt format)
AND PLAY CO-OP IN THE SAME PC JUST TYPE THE CO-OP MAP YOU WISH
AT THE DEV CONSOLE, ACTIVATE THE sv_cheats 1 AFTER THE LEVEL LOADS
AND TYPE:

========================

in_userforce 1

========================

it forces the keyboard to assume control of the player 2.
I HOPE YOU CAN DO IT COZ IT'S EASY LIKE THAT, REPLY ME IF IT DOESN'T WORK AND I'LL TRY TO REMEMBER IF I GAVE DONE SOMETHING EARLIER I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS SOLUTION, COZ I'VE BEEN 4 HOURS TRYING MAYBE I DID SOMETHING BEFORE BUT I DON'T THINK SO, GOOD LUCK BYE

READ NONE OF THE ABOVE: I've made a detailed guide on how to play it with one controller and mouse/keyboard: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=239373369

Check your bindings on your controller. Most probably your X button is bound to something other than what you want. Try pressing different buttons in the menu.

I don't know what kind of native support that controller has, if any.
