Portal not Starting
The game will start but as soon as it gets to the main menu it crashes. Any suggestions for how to fix this?

I can't get Portal 2 to work either. Seconds after clicking "Play", it crashes. I even deleted, then re-downloaded it to get the same results. The first Portal and my other games work fine.

I found a way to fix it. Right click on portal 2 and click properties. Then click "Local Files" then click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache"

I tried the Verify Integeriy of Game Cache option twice and still the same same result result. I'll keep trying to get it working. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

when you re-downloaded it did you go in to your common folder and delete the portal 2 folder? If not, that is another way i found to re-install steam games.

I did not do that yet, but I will try it.

SO, I deleted Protal 2 from the common folder. Then, I rebooted. Deleted Portal 2 from the common folder again. Re-downloaded the game and the same instant crash still happens.

Same thing going on with me. No help from Steam

Exact same problem here, been searching round for solutions, but all I keep finding are people saying that verifying my cache will fix it, but sadly I still barely get to the main menu before it freezes and restarts windows.

Verifying did me no good. Save your time. Not only has Portal 2 crashing my computer so is Portal now. Still no response from Steam. At this point I wish they would just return my money becasue I don't have enough patience to deal with a company that doesn't care about their customers. And, on top of that they rely on their customers to fix other customers problems.

I read somewhere that you have to update ur bios its happening to me too but Borderlands 2 also crashed with a blue screen and that solution was a bios upgrade
