Portal 2 Crash bug?

I have owned Portal 2 for about a year now and recently I've been having a problem.
The game starts perfectly and signs me in, but as soon as I join co-op, launch singleplayer or try to play a community test chamber, the game just shuts off and it dosent work. Every other game works apart from Portal 2, the original Portal works fine. Its just this. I checked the settings and nothing is invalid! Please Help ASAP!

I'm getting the same problem. I just upgraded from an nVidia 9600 GT to a GTX 650 Ti SSC. I don't know if there is a leftover setting from the old card somewhere.

I deleted and reinstalled and that took care of my problem

The thing is, I havent upgraded anything within the time of it working and failing.
If I reinstalled it, would it delete all of my game data?

it shouldnt... reinstalling the game just deletes the running files, not your game data... try Verifying the integrity of the game cache first and see if it fixes your problem... sometimes running files get deleted accedentally

It just closes and dosent write an error. I verified the integrity of the game and it said 2 files failed to verify and will be reaquired. Sorry if I spelt that wrong.

UPDATE AFTER LAUNCHING:
It turns out it was a corrupted file, the game is now working as it should, thanks for your help everyone!
P.S It also fixed a bug that I have been having since I bought the game where Core 1 / Wheatley was facing down all the time and GLaDOS was facing backwards in her chamber

Just go into options and verify the integrity of the game cache. Wait for it to load then reset the game :D
