I have got this problem. How to fix this? Portal 2 crashes only after update... I'll downgrade OS, it must start portal 2, or it isn't windows.

Had this problem too. You should go to your library, select Portal 2 -> Properties -> Local files -> verify integrity of game cache, then restart Steam and then it should work.

If u update to 8.1, u need to uninstall your drivers, then download and install the drivers for 8.1

Like for your GPU and Sound.

Windows 7 is perfect for working on the strong pc's. Windows 8 (x64) is for greatest next gen gaming. Windows 8.1 is for tests. NOT IN PORTAL! It's really bugging system, It's for developers who develops next gen programms. Games will not works good in this system. Bill is a gay. Tss...

^This is first thing to try whenever a Steam game gives u a problem.

Unless perhaps it happens to popup with some sort of error, then it would be helpful to know the specific error code and/or message.
