Portal 2 start screen glitch

all of the start screen button's are missing even the logo all i see is the backround

i have a similar problem, my buttons appear but in the end they're useless cuz whenever i try and actualy play the game no matter what play option i choose the game will start loading it and half way through it just say " ♥♥♥♥ it" and closes out entirely

Have you tried to verify the game cache? It's similar to redownloading, but it will only download the missing/broken files.
