if i bypass valve screen, it shows loading screen for remainding of second and closes.

same here, kinda. my game will run, but for only 5 mins, then either CTD with no report, or CTD with BEX error report. trying to narrow it down right now, just verified gamefiles, reported back as no errors.........

Have you tried verifying the integrity of the game cache? This problem happens to me every once in a while, and doing that seems to work for me every time.

yea, thats what i meant by "verified gamefiles", sry. I defragged my entire steam folder first, then verified cache, but got zero errors. Then i installed " Windows6.1-KB2670838-x64.msu ". then b4 rebooting, i reverted my NV gfx drivers back to 334.89 ( from 335.23 ).
Been playing Portal2 for 30 mins now w. no ctd's. not sure which or what fixed it, or if ive just been lucky for 30 mins, will continue to play through to see if it crashes any more, but it appears stable now.
*update-> still stable to point when acquire glados/potato.

THIS WORKS WITH ANY PORTAL 2 PROBLEM!
(Except Screen resolution problems)
I tried it myself!

Go to your Steam Folder, delete appcache, go to the SteamApps Folder, delete the Portal 2 folder manually, reboot steam, right click Portal 2 in your library and press Delete Local Content, then press Install. This really works! I tried it myself! The valve animation went, then I saw that picture of The Co-Op Robot P-Body jumping into a portal and then it crashed. The usual location of your steam folder would be
Windows 64 Bit = C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
Windows 32 Bit = C:\Program Files\Steam
Mac 64 and 32 Bit = ~/Library/Application Support/Steam
Other Operating Systems = Don't Know.
